Each PDF is fillable, so you can open in an app like Adobe Reader or Preview and easily add your own text. Revised_imovie_unit_plan_pdf.pdf. Home. DayZ Mod. Game based learning - Using Glow and ICT. AR Flashcards - animals alphabet

You simply take the letters of the alphabet, place an animal beside it and add sounds and audio response to it: “A” for “Apple”. Not very spectacular. However, if this kids app concept get’s enriched with a great technique such as “augmented reality”, we’ll definitely start to find it pretty exciting and worth mentioning. What you’ll need to start this iPad and iPhone AR app, are the so called “AR-cards” with the AR-marker. Of course the app developer provided a PDF document on their homepage for you to print these out for free. Simply print out the AR-cards (it would be best to use thick paper such as photo paper) so that it doesn’t get creased and crinkled. With the AR Flashcards animals app you get a lot of content, all in all 26 different animals – one for each letter, whereas other augmented reality apps, are usually quite miserly with contents.

Of course, it depends on the angle of your camera. Augmented Reality ABC Flashcards App for Young Kids. This FREE app is so much fun.

All you have to do is download the free flashcards, print them in color and then use the free app. When you open the app press “get started” and it opens a camera viewer. Place one or more of the cards in view of the camera and watch the magic happen. When you touch the screen on top of the animal or card it also tells you the letter name and animal. I know we are always looking for interesting ways to get kids to learn letters and I think this could be a great addition to the bag of tricks. I also love that it will recognize more than one card at a time.

Games and the Common Core: Two Movements That Need Each Other

The first one was on implementing the Common Core for English-language learners; the second was on how games offer an exciting new frontier for student learning and engagement. In the morning, I listened in to an Alliance for Excellent Education panel including Stanford professor Kenji Hakuta and Carrie Heath Phillips, director of Common Core implementation at the Council of Chief State School Officers. That evening, I went to Stanford to hear a panel on Education’s Digital Future that included professors James Paul Gee of Arizona State and Constance Steinkuehler of the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

I was struck by two things: 1) How neither community of experts mentioned the other, and 2) how these two "movements" urgently need to work together. They need each other.
