ARTE, PINTURA Y GENIOS.: Ron English: Surrealismo pop. Ron English, artista estadounidense (Dallas, Texas, 1959).

Batman y Robin. Elvis. DesignTAXI. The Sculpture Foundation : About Us. BLOG. Saloua Raouda Choucair. 1 of 7 The world’s first major museum exhibition of Lebanese artist Saloua Raouda Choucair celebrates this remarkable artist’s extraordinary body of work. Choucair is a pioneer of abstract art in the Middle East and, born in 1916, takes her rightful position as a significant figure in the history of twentieth-century art. Through painting and drawing, architecture, textiles and jewellery, as well as, of course, her prolific and experimental sculptures, visitors can discover how Choucair worked in diverse media pursuing her interests in science, mathematics and Islamic art and poetry.

Many of the works, made over a period of five decades, have not previously been seen outside of Lebanon. A rare female voice in the Beirut art scene from the 1940s onwards, Choucair’s work combines elements of western abstraction with Islamic aesthetics. A singular figure who deserves her place in the spotlight… Many works belong in museums; only now are they entering that arena.Ben Luke, Evening Standard. Unqualified revelations have never been the museum's priority. Nobody goes to Bankside hoping to be astonished by a brand new name, a new artist, a new strain of art that has not yet been bruited on the international circuit all the way from Venice to Sydney to Basel. It does not deal in risks or experiments or artists without a press review to their name. It is powerfully attached to the status quo. Many artists have endured similar struggles but few have found themselves simultaneously quite so thwarted by political strife.

The show opens, as so often, with a youthful self-portrait. Since 1999 home of design culture: designboom is the first and largest independent publication dedicated to architecture and design. Visitors to an exhibition of work by architects Haptic can take a rest inside a wooden cabin filled with coloured light and smoke (+ movie). As the centrepiece to the Working the Land exhibition, the Light Touch installation combines an illuminated walkway with a secluded seating area and was designed to demonstrate the craftsmanship that is key to Haptic's architectural practice.

A kinetic mechanism is attached to the top of the structure, lifting a chain of lights up and down in a wave-like motion. One side of these lights shines onto a wall of images in the corridor, while the other projects shades of pink, purple and blue through the slatted facade of the cabin. Visitors sitting inside the cabin can make themselves comfortable amongst a collection of reindeer skins. Haptic worked with artist Ruairi Glynn on the complex assembly of the installation, which involved piecing together CNC-milled slats of black MDF then ensuring the mechanism fitted exactly. Botanivore also features fresh ginger, dill and celery seed, and cilantro, giving it an herbaceous brightness. Therefore, the illustration incorporates those ingredients to capture the essence of that distinctive flavor. St. St. Preview: Top 10 Art Exhibitions In 2013. L S Lowry Industrial Landscape 1955. Jenny Holzer: drawn to the dark side | Art and design. One day, Jenny Holzer saw a picture. It showed a woman with her legs spread, lying in a forest after being raped and murdered.

The drawing, by the unflinching German artist Käthe Kollwitz, provoked Holzer to write some text in the voice of an imagined adviser to the attacker. "Crack the pelvis so she lies right. This is a mistake. When she dies you cannot repeat the act. The bones will not grow together again and the personality will not come back. " Another text, for the same Under a Rock series, read: "Nothing will stop you the mad foreigner. In one work, a Holzer slogan howls from Lady Pink's graffiti through the window to the street beyond: "I am not free because I can be exploded anytime. " Meanwhile, at Sprüth Magers's sister gallery in Berlin, Holzer has a show of more recent work called Endgame. Although two decades separate the work in the two shows, they are surely the work of a politically conscious artist. Why put these words on posters? Jenny Holzer - Projections. Arte conceptual.
