Kada sam pre nekih petnaest godina objavila knjigu o ženskim ikonama dvadesetog veka, jedan muški kritičar mi je ozbiljno zamerio što nisam uzela Merilin Monro: naravno da nisam, jer se nisam bavila muškim ikonama.
Merilin nije imala bog zna šta da kaže ženama. Meni je bilo mnogo više žao što u knjigu nije uspela ući Lorin Bekol… Upravo je umrla, od očekivane smrti, u poznim godinama (89).
