The most common opinion, shared by excavator Klaus Schmidt, is that they are early neolithic sanctuaries. Over the last several weeks, there has been a video that has been making the rounds in several online community sites, one which purports to examine the origins or functions of an ancient archaeological site, called Gobekli Tepe.

The video has caused a fair amount of confusion amongst many who’ve seen it, because the content of the video is sensational, to say the least.
