Slavery and Indentured Servants:Law Library of Congress. Slavery and Indentured Servants Before the Civil War, slaves and indentured servants were considered personal property, and they or their descendants could be sold or inherited like any other personalty.
Like other property, human chattel was governed largely by laws of individual states. Generally, these laws concerning indentured servants and slaves did not differentiate between the sexes. Some, however, addressed only women. Regardless of their country of origin, many early immigrants were indentured servants, people who sold their labor in exchange for passage to the New World and housing on their arrival. Virginia was one of the first states to acknowledge slavery in its laws, initially enacting such a law in 1661.36 The following year, Virginia passed two laws that pertained solely to women who were slaves or indentured servants and to their illegitimate children.

Whether you think book trailers are good or bad for the book business most have to agree that most of them are basically the same; the author talking about the book or a bunch of images set to moody music with text flashing past your eyes or a dark ominous voice telling you about the book.
However, some trailers are much more creative and straight out fantastic. These are some of my personal favourites, mostly of YA books, though I was bold and added one that is not a YA book (even though the title of the blog clearly says Young Adult). I won’t ramble on much, but I will write a little, I just can’t help myself. My absolute, number one favourite book trailer, if you can even call it that (Maybe theme song is a better choice of words), is the fantastic, original trailer for Monster High by Lisi Harrison.
