Tropical Delight Square Photo Guide For Rounds 1-9

The pattern, which has been out of print for some time, was recently made available for free by mellie of Mellieblossom.com. After I made this square, I posted a picture of it on a Ravelry forum thread, where it garnered a lot of interest! But because it is a very, very involved....and challenging pattern, I thought it would be nice to have a photo guide of the first 9 rounds to go along with the pattern. Hopefully... it will make the instructions a little more clear. This is only a photo guide with minimal notes. My square finished measures 10 inches. Block a Week CAL 2014. Sophie's Garden Photo Tutorial. I know there are a few of you who have been patiently (and impatiently) waiting for the pattern for Sophie’s Garden, so I am excited and relieved to finally share it with you.

The example above was made using 2 strands of Stylecraft Special Dk and a 5.5 mm hook. You can now find a list of the colours I used HERE. Although this is not officially part of the Block a Week CAL 2014, I know there are a few ladies who are wanting to incorporate this square into their blankets. If you wish to do so, remember to use the same hook and yarn as for the rest of your squares and it will come out the same size as 4 of the other squares. Have fun! ©Dedri Uys 2014.

{Please see this post if you would like to know more about the CAL.} Update: This square does not have a photo tutorial because we had not decided to do photo tutorials when we did this square, and so hadn’t obtained permission to do so. If you would like to start with some of the squares that do have photo tutorials, I suggest starting from Week 5 onwards. My final photo isn’t that great because… Even though Christiaan was working today and that would (and did) mean a solo trip to church with the three full-of-beans masters, I braced myself and went.

Even though this square is an intermediate level, it is fairly easy to make. I did have to read some of the instructions a whole bunch of times, but that is only because there are repeats inside repeats and my brain seizes the minute there’s a repeat inside a repeat. Right.
