http://www.ubergizmo.com/ Windows Phone owners who happen to live in Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Croatia, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Venezuela, here is some good news for you, and hopefully it will be able to perk you up through the middle of the week as the weekend looms in the horizon. Microsoft has announced that they will be opening up the Marketplace in those countries, so may the downloading begin! This would mean the aforementioned 13 countries will be joining Argentina, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, and the Philippines for some Marketplace goodness, bringing the total number of Marketplace storefronts to 54. Of course, Microsoft is definitely not going to stop here, as they have plans outlined for the UAE, Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Israel, Thailand, and Vietnam in the near future. This would definitely mean the 70,000 plus apps available on the Marketplace will not stay that way for long with the opening up of new markets.
I recently attended The Creators Project in San Francisco, a globe-roaming two day free event that celebrates an eclectic mix of avant-garde music and arts installations, and attracted tens of thousands of people. It could have easily been re-named " The Curators Project" because of the superb collection of bands, artists, installations, and even food trucks -- all carefully selected by a small team of curators. (The Googleplex at night) The UK newspaper The Guardian, claims that Google's Android operating system is far less valuable than Google's revenues from Apple devices.

http://www.readwriteweb.com/ After the Associated Press published an article on March 20th about employers asking job candidates for Facebook and social media passwords, the response was, to say the least, overwhelming. In the month since, there have been thousands of tweets and social media status updates, more than 2,000 blog posts, and hundreds of news articles on the "trend." Legislation was proposed in at least three states, and by April 9th, Maryland had hastily passed a bill.

The British have an umbilical cord which has never been cut and through which tea flows constantly. It is curious to watch them in times of sudden horror, tragedy or disaster. The pulse stops apparently and nothing can be done, and no move made, until “a nice cup of tea” is quickly made. There is no question that it brings solace and does steady the mind. What a pity all countries are not so tea-conscious. World-peace conferences would run more smoothly if “a nice cup of tea”, or indeed, a samovar were available at the proper time. http://www.ewanspence.com/blog/

Passez me voir à la Maison Connectée Orange demain Jeudi 26 Mai !

There are still plenty of opportunities to create a lucrative business in the "job" and "talent" market. Not only was LinkedIn's entry into the public market a hit last year (its IPO brought the company $352.8 million), but this BusinessWeek article (a GigaOm re-post) from last May touts numerous potential acquisition targets that might complement their business. Among those targets include Hashable, Socialware, Yammer, Indeed and BranchOut. Sprouting from Ireland, Zartis is a new player in this space, who see the growing difficulty in hiring, particularly technical talent.

When we think of our neighbors to the North in Canada, we think of bountiful natural resources, open land, and flannel shirts; we don’t necessarily think of tech. The major cities are dominated by industries such as oil, resource exporting, and politics. With the latest in RIMs downward spiral, Canada should be expected to leave this industry to the Valley. So, when I arrived back in my home country after six years of sunny and buzzing California, I thought that finding a tech scene would be a needle in a haystack. I couldn’t have been farther from the truth. http://techzulu.com/

The New Year is almost here- a perfect time to set goals to improve my business. For parents like me working at home and confined to a small work space, being organized is vital. While I have gone through my desk and decluttered over the last few months, the next step is to figure out how I can improve my business workflow and in turn improve my productivity. 1. Tame the receipts: Folders on my desktop are great for day to day review of expenses, but scanning and storing receipts either on my computer or in the cloud is a more efficient long-term solution. 2.
Posted by Phil Jeudy in More about me .
