*Simply Scratch*: Parmesan Garlic Bread:

Last week was a busy week filled with a field trip to the zoo sandwiched by 3 twelve hour shifts. By Friday I was extremely happy for the weekend to arrive. Although Pat worked late, we still barbecued dinner and relaxed with a few adult beverages after tucking in our girls. http://www.simplyscratch.com/2011/05/parmesan-garlic-bread.html
I made this pie today as a tribute to a fellow food blogger. One whom I've never met, but who's blog, In Jennie's Kitchen , I've been reading for longer than I've had my own. Tragically, her husband passed away this past Sunday...suddenly, of a heart attack. The food blog community immediately took to the internet, reaching out, wanting to know what they could do to help her. Amazingly, she posted to her blog this week, to talk about her husband and to ask her readers to make this pie today . It was something he loved, and making it is a way to celebrate his life.

When French Toast Met Pancakes

http://tastykitchen.com/blog/2011/08/when-french-toast-met-pancakes/ If you ever want me to like you, just make me a light, fluffy stack of pancakes. I’ll blush, I’ll smile a lot, I might propose–it’ll be weird and cute. Promise. Just when I thought pancakes couldn’t get any better, I stumbled upon this recipe by Tasty Kitchen member frecklesandsunshine . The title: When French Toast Met Pancakes…and Fell In Love totally made me giddy with butterflies in my stomach.

Desserts for the Deserving

http://iammommy.typepad.com/i_am_baker/2011/07/meal-for-family-in-need.html The need can be anything from a new baby to a hospital stay to the loss of a loved one. The desire on our part is the same, to make life easier for the recipient. To give them a gift of a warm, comforting, homemade meal. When my church reached out and asked if I could bring a meal to a family that just had their first child I said yes before she could finish talking.

Happy Thanksgiving Homemade Pumpkin Butter

Good morning! This weekend is our Canadian Thanksgiving, which seems strange to me after the weekend madness, but I am just happy that I am not the one preparing the entire meal this time. ;) I have been thinking of something that I could bring for my in-laws that would make a fun Thanksgiving hostess gift. I didn’t feel like bringing cookies, pie, or something of that nature, so I put my thinking cap on and surfed the web for ideas. And then it hit me like a ton of bricks pumpkins. Strawberry Champagne Slushies :: Une Vie Saine

When it comes to my beverages, I’m a huge fan of bubbles: sparkling water, soda (yes, I love the stuff), beer and champagne. Oh, champagne. I could give or take regular old wine, but add some sparkles to it and I’ll happily drink the entire bottle in one sitting. Not that I’ve ever done that…

Parmesan Roasted Potatoes

Roasted potatoes are pretty much my life. I’ve been told that I make one mean batch of roasted potatoes, and so I feel like it’s my civic duty to share the recipe with you today. There really isn’t anything that crazy that goes into these potatoes but I guess they are pretty much like crack. People, including my boyfriend, just can’t get enough of them.
