Nature. Maps. Reading. Lamps. ScrapTherapy by Evgenia Petzer. All my sketches: Shabby Chic Flowers. Today I am sharing how I made my Shabby Chic (sounds much better than just plain old shabby) flowers like I used on this card.
To make the black flower I used: Heavyweight white paper Black dye ink Brayer Spellbinders Blossom Nesitibilities (but blossom type punches will work just as well) Sanding block and/or emery board Button or large brad for centre To get the white core I brayered black dye ink on to the white paper, giving a good even coverage. Cut out three shapes using the three smallest dies in the set, don't bother embossing them Sand the edges of each layer to expose the white core (do this with designer paper as well) Crumple each layer up well. Thompson’s Superb Advice on How to Find Your Purpose and Live a Meaningful Life.
As a hopeless lover of both letters and famous advice, I was delighted to discover a letter 20-year-old Hunter S.
Thompson — gonzo journalism godfather, pundit of media politics, dark philosopher — penned to his friend Hume Logan in 1958. Found in Letters of Note: Correspondence Deserving of a Wider Audience (public library | IndieBound) — the aptly titled, superb collection based on Shaun Usher’s indispensable website of the same name — the letter is an exquisite addition to luminaries’ reflections on the meaning of life, speaking to what it really means to find your purpose. Cautious that “all advice can only be a product of the man who gives it” — a caveat other literary legends have stressed with varying degrees of irreverence — Thompson begins with a necessary disclaimer about the very notion of advice-giving: To give advice to a man who asks what to do with his life implies something very close to egomania. Every man is the sum total of his reactions to experience.

Tropical rainforests are found across the world between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Tropic of Cancer, 22.5° North and 22.5° South of the Equator. Almost half of the remaining tropical rainforest is found in tropical America, a bit more than a third in Asia and Oceania, and fifteen percent in Africa. Tropical rainforests cover approximately 8% of the world’s land surface - an area of approximately 1.2 billion hectares - and yet contain over half of the earth’s species of animals and plants. The largest rainforest, the Amazon, is found in South America and spans nine nations (Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname, as well as French Guiana), covering a total area of approximately 600 million hectares. Tree Identification Guide at arborday. Tree Encyclopedia. Trees have three principle features that distinguish them from all other plants.
First, they have a woody stem, roots and branches which do not die back in winter, but continue to grow year after year. From the moment of its germination, a tree remains visible; from the tallest Sequoia to the smallest garden fruit tree, this principle of growth remains constant. Second, trees live longer than any other organism on earth. Trees commonly live more than 1,000 years, and many grow considerably older. A bristlecone pine, Pinus longaeva, at Schulman Grove in California has been documented both by core drilling (a pencil-thin core is taken from the tree's trunk, and the rings are counted) and by carbon-dating as being 4,700 years old. Trees have been living on Earth for more than 370 million years, and today can be found almost everywhere from the Arctic Circle to the Sahara Desert.
