“Killer cops aren’t welcome here”: Cop Who Killed Kelly Thomas Driven Out of Restaurant. Lily DaneActivist Post Remember Manuel Ramos, the scumbag murderer ex-cop who said, “You see my fists? They’re getting ready to f*ck you up” to Kelly Thomas before beating him into a coma? Remember that, despite video evidence of the beating that ultimately led to Thomas’s death, an Orange County jury inexplicably acquitted Ramos and let him walk free? That jury may have been easy on Ramos, but it appears that citizens won’t be so kind.
Last weekend Ramos visited a Denny’s restaurant in California, about a mile from where the brutal beating of Kelly Thomas occurred. Customers recognized Ramos and began complaining about his presence. One customer snapped a photo of him getting up to leave and posted it to the Facebook page We Copwatch: Here’s the caption that was posted with the photo: So last night at Denny’s we saw this “cop” (the one that killed Kelly Thomas) his ass SHOULD be in jail.. & thank fully the people next to him complained and he got up and left .. Thomas P. "Boston" Corbett was the Union Army soldier who shot Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth, to death in April of 1865. Corbett, a member of the 16th New York Cavalry Regiment, and other soldiers were assigned to apprehend Booth, but not to kill him, based on strict orders from Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. Instead, when Booth was discovered in a Virginia farm, the regiment set the barn on fire and then Corbett shot Booth through a crack in the wall. Corbett didn't really get to enjoy his earnings or newfound fame, though, as his life slowly began to unravel. Next thing you know, he's committed to the Topeka Asylum for the Insane, from where he escaped the following year.
Corbett was never officially heard from again. Affordable Legal Services, Free Legal Documents, Advice & Ask a Lawyer | Rocket Lawyer. Official Ten-Code List. Gavel Grab » California Judiciary Wary of Further Court Budget Cuts. California court officials have warned that Gov. Jerry Brown is planning to cut another $200 million from the state’s court budget, according to the Sacramento Bee. The court system was initially promised that the $200 million was part of what would be received for the next fiscal year, state administrative director of the courts Judge Steven Jahr said in a memo. State courts have already faced drastic budge cuts this year (see Gavel Grab). President of the Consumer Attorneys of California, Brian Kabateck, says that civil court services are at the highest risk without enough funds. “Average Californians are going to be lacking in court services they need,” Kabateck said.
“Anything from civil jury trials to domestic violence services to small claims are going to suffer. The Legislative Analyst’s Office is estimating that state courts will receive about $1.2 billion in the next budget, the article says, and $419 million that was cut previously will be restored. Spy Drone Can See What You are Wearing From 17,500 Feet. It Only Seems That Political Corruption Is Rampant. With the indictment last week of the former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell on fraud and conspiracy charges, one might surmise that high-level political scandal is breaking out all over.
And in a way, one would be right: It has been a good year, or perhaps a bad one, for hauling politicians before judges. Three members of the House of Representatives pleaded guilty to, or were convicted of, crimes in 2013, more than any other year since 1981, when the now-cinematized Abscam sting operation put six House members and a senator behind bars. Last year, former mayors of Detroit and New Orleans, among others, were convicted of, or charged with, felonies. In Changing News Landscape, Even Television is Vulnerable. Trends in News Consumption: 1991-2012 Overview The transformation of the nation’s news landscape has already taken a heavy toll on print news sources, particularly print newspapers. But there are now signs that television news – which so far has held onto its audience through the rise of the internet – also is increasingly vulnerable, as it may be losing its hold on the next generation of news consumers.
Online and digital news consumption, meanwhile, continues to increase, with many more people now getting news on cell phones, tablets or other mobile platforms. And perhaps the most dramatic change in the news environment has been the rise of social networking sites. The percentage of Americans saying they saw news or news headlines on a social networking site yesterday has doubled – from 9% to 19% – since 2010. These are among the principal findings of the Pew Research Center’s biennial news consumption survey, which has tracked patterns in news use for nearly two decades.
