My name is Maya, I'm the author of I'm sure many of you have lots of digital photographs stored away that would look awesome backlit! I used to have a small business making lampshades from my photographs. They're all with a coastal theme, but the sky is the limit to what you can put on display. In a nutshell, I made this lampshade by printing a digital photo onto four letter sized inkjet fabric sheets that I cut to size and adhered onto a self adhesive lampshade. In the midst of redoing my own office, I realized I needed a desk lamp to shed a little extra light on smaller tasks. I went to the office supply and home furnishing stores, but I couldn't find anything that'd work. Table lamp from Birch. After cutting it down, I took 1,70 meter from it and let it dry for 6 months. After this, the outside of the birch tree was dry, but the inside was not yet. I then cut the tree trunk in half. After seeing this on the-brick-house, I decided to take a crack at making my own version of a Potence lamp and here’s what I came up with messing around a few hours after work.

The lamp is made with 1/2″ steel tubing and steel flat bar. The handle is made out of a scrap piece of mahogany that i turned on the lathe. I used cloth-covered wire that I bought from sundial wire , and electrical plugs and fittings from Lowes. I know it’s not perfect but it was a quick first attempt. If I make more, I know some better ways to do things but for now I’m satisfied with the lamp.
