Sesame Chicken. Skip the take-out and try this easy dish right at home – it’s not only cheaper but it tastes so much better! Before I get into this sesame chicken goodness, can we first talk about last night’s episode of Grey’s? I’ve been following this show for years and although the show has plummeted in the more recent years, I’ve never missed an episode (yeah, I’m that much of a loyal Grey’s fan). But last night’s episode was quite amazing. I don’t think I’ve cried like that since the finale of season 6 when the shooter came in and killed off like half the cast. I’m still a bit shaken up about it so if today’s post doesn’t make too much sense, it’s because tv world has totally taken over reality. Okay so now I’m ready to talk food. Remember when I posted about those broiled salmon gyros to bring awareness for heart disease? The first place to start is with your cooking oil, particularly corn oil.

Roasted Chicken with Dijon Recipe. I used to dislike mustard with a passion. I know what you’re thinking: how could anyone who claims to like food dislike mustard? I think it must have been a leftover childhood thing. I don’t recall any traumatizing mustard memories, but as a child I adamantly stayed away from mustard. My aversion to mustard was so strong as a child that I never actually tried it as a grown-up until 4 or five years ago when Mike laughed at me after I told him of my hate for mustard.

I don’t know if it was just that I grew up or that I liked mustard all along, but mustard is now one of my favourite things. I really enjoy it, both as a condiment and as a flavour. I like it so much that I’ve even visited the dedicated Maille Dijon boutique in Paris to pick up (way too many) tiny jars of mustard. This mustard chicken recipe is throw-it-together easy. Honey Glazed Chicken and Bacon Bites.

I had an idea. Actually, it was more like my three hundred and forty-sixth idea for this month and I now have the hips to show for it. No biggie, I consider it a small sacrifice for eating food that tastes this good. So I asked myself: “Would it be a really crazy idea to wrap loads of bacon around chicken strips and brush them with a spruced up honey marinade?”. Why yes, Kay, it would be. But frankly, I like crazy. I’m all for crazy. See, now that’s what happens when you blog from your desolated home or kitchen (in the burbs). Anyway, it turned out nothing short of a phenomenal idea that I simply have to share here in my little corner of the www. Ingredients: 1 pound boneless chicken breasts 20 thin bacon slices 3 tbsp honey 2 tsp coarse mustard fresh lemon juice Optional: salt Directions: Cut the chicken breasts—or fillets, as we call them here—in thin strips. Really good.I don’t know why, but I haven’t made this recipe in a while. It was passed to me by my friend Namrata. She used to whip it up all the time when we were in school.Late at night, after a long day of studying in the library; instead of ordering in, she would fire up the stove and cook this for the whole crew.

With just some rice and greens on the side.A perfect dinner.Tasty, comforting, flavorful, full of nuances but not too strong. Everybody loved it.Namrata’s butter chicken quickly became legendary on campus, and in no time people were showing up “in the nick of time” for dinner asking “Can I join?” Carpetbaggers... This is a simplified version of Namrata’s mum original one for Murgh Makhani; which requires - among other things - the chicken to marinade overnight. As Namrata used to say “It takes too long to cook this dish my Mum’s way, and mine tastes just as good; so why bother?” 30-minute it's all you need to make this happen in your kitchen. 30 Pounds of Apples » General Tso’s Chicken. The food-focused internet is positively abuzz with recipes for Chinese dumplings, stir fries, and noodles to celebrate the Chinese New Year. It doesn’t seem to matter what I’ve packed to eat for the day: just a few minutes skimming my Google Reader has me craving Chinese food well before lunchtime. Aside from vegetable-packed stir fries (and an occasional, unbelievably tasty batch of potstickers), I don’t cook a lot of Chinese food at home. Most recipes tend to call for ingredients that I don’t usually have on hand, and it’s soooooo easy to order takeout. But I was recently invited by a fellow blogger, Diana of Appetite for China, to participate in a “Virtual Potluck” to celebrate the New Year and the release of her new cookbook, The Chinese Takeout Cookbook. She posted six sneak-peek recipes from the book on her site. And my only task? There have always been two things that I’ve found daunting about making a dish like General Tso’s.
