Nipcc. SePP Home Page. Presentation Prof. Murry Salby in Hamburg on 18 April 2013. How the Koch brothers screwed over the climate even more than you know. Billionaire oil moguls Charles and David Koch have had a pernicious effect on climate and energy policy, a host of other progressive issues, and American democracy itself, as we’ve reported many times before. But a new report by the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University reveals even more about how the Koch brothers have undermined climate action. Since 2008, the Koch-backed group Americans for Prosperity has been urging candidates and politicians to sign its “No Climate Tax Pledge.”

In 2010, we noted that many Republican House and Senate candidates had signed it, and in 2011, that at least one GOP presidential candidate had. But it turns out the pledge has been far more widespread and influential than most people realized. The New Yorker has more on the workshop’s investigation: The investigation makes it clear that, in today’s America, money talks — and the climate bakes.

Here’s the pledge in its entirety, short but deadly: Koch millions spread influence through nonprofits, colleges - The Koch Club. By Charles Lewis , Eric Holmberg , Alexia Campbell , Lydia Beyoud Monday, July 1st, 2013 ShareThis Koch Industries, one of the largest privately held corporations in the world and principally owned by billionaires Charles and David Koch, has developed what may be the best funded, multifaceted, public policy, political and educational presence in the nation today.

From direct political influence and robust lobbying to nonprofit policy research and advocacy, and even increasingly in academia and the broader public “marketplace of ideas,” this extensive, cross-sector Koch club or network appears to be unprecedented in size, scope and funding. And the relationship between these for-profit and nonprofit entities is often mutually reinforcing to the direct financial and political interests of the behemoth corporation — broadly characterized as deregulation, limited government and free markets.

Altogether, since 2007, Koch nonprofit organizations testified before U.S. Koch money Lawyer Gregory L. CONVENIENT MYTHS, green revolution, perceptions, politics. He has been president of the Intl. Association for Great Lakes Research, and is a recipient of the Intl. QSAR Award. Dr. Global Warming in a Few Slides. Dr. John Christy participated in a conference on global warming last month, and presented some power points that make several points with respect to the ongoing climate debate. All of these observations will be familiar to Power Line readers, but Dr. Christy’s visuals are effective. You can view the power point slides here, and the accompanying text here.

The following are some of Christy’s slides. Tornadoes are not becoming more frequent. Snow cover in the northern hemisphere, where the most plausible claims of warming have been made, is not diminishing: In the U.S., the climate is getting neither wetter nor dryer: High temperature records are not being set with unusual frequency: The climate models that are the only basis for warming alarmism are refuted by observation, and therefore are simply wrong: Global warming alarmism is, in my opinion, the worst scientific fraud in world history. Christopher Monckton, 3rd Viscount Monckton of Brenchley.

Early on in his public speaking career topics centred on his mathematical puzzle and conservative politics.[1] In recent years his public speaking has garnered attention due to controversial views on climate change,[3][4][5][6] the European Union[7] and social policy. Glenn Beck Brings ExxonMobil-Linked Religious Front Group To Tell Christians Not To Believe In Climate Change. By Lee Fang "Glenn Beck Brings ExxonMobil-Linked Religious Front Group To Tell Christians Not To Believe In Climate Change" In June, ThinkProgress published an exclusive investigation into the Cornwall Alliance — a corporate front designed to deceive evangelicals into doubting the science underpinning climate change.

Today, Fox News hate-talker Glenn Beck brought on a representative from the group to tout Cornwall’s new DVD, “Resisting the Green Dragon,” which claims the climate change movement is a “false religion,” and a nefarious conspiracy to empower eugenicists and create a “global government.” The DVD, which Cornwall is distributing to evangelical churches around the country, seems to be designed perfectly for Beck’s world view, and unsurprisingly, the Cornwall guest and Beck exchanged bizarre conspiracy theories. Watch it: For “stream lining” reasons, ISA relaunched as the Cornwall Alliance in 2006. But who is the “driving force” behind CFACT? Resisting the Green Dragon. God-Given Rights: Acknowledging God's Jurisdiction (1:36) ShareThis David Barton of Wallbuilders talks about the scriptural basis for the rights due to all mankind as stewards and care-takers of the earth. The globalism of the environmentalist movement derives from post-structuralism, which recognizes cultural differences but requires that they be set aside for the purpose of global unity.

While that might seem nice, what it entails is that rights are derived from government, and government will dictate what is best in order to accommodate a utilitarian ethic. This destroys the right to self-determination, a fundamental principle of American government. Rights come from God. All that need be done to see the pros and cons of either side is to look at the former Soviet Union, and how people fared in that political structure, versus how they have fared in America. Three Scriptures on the Poor: God's Message About Caring for the Needy (2:20) Dr. Why Do Your Homework? Dr. Google accused of 'shameful hypocrisy' in helping re-elect anti-global warming senator. Google's PR machine has this week been trumpeting its wind and sun energy ventures.

But you'll have to go elsewhere to hear about its support for Senator James Inhofe, described by a San Francisco Chronicle columnist as "the delusional or dishonest Oklahoma Republican" who has called global warming the "greatest hoax. " The "Green" giant is helping to raise lots of green for his re-election by hosting a lunch at its Washington office on July 11, costing as much as $2,500 per plate. Google has a large data center in Oklahoma, the senator's home state. James Temple, writing in the San Francisco Chronicle, called it a "shameful act of corporate hypocrisy. " He pointed out that the senator has tried McCarthy-like tactics in accusations against 17 top climate scientists of violating the Federal False Statements Act, which could result in five years in prison over their global warming claims.
