Since 2003, the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival has promoted reflection upon documentary films – something that had previously been nearly unknown in the Czech Republic. Documentary film was not a part of the media discourse, documentary filmmakers were not given space within the media, and their works were ignored by film critics. Critical discussion has been an important part of the many different activities that have helped documentary film undergo a radical evolution and to strengthen its position within the world of cinema, two processes that have taken place in the Czech Republic over the past ten years. Fluxfilm Anthology. Fluxfilm Anthology (1962-1970) 1962-1970, b&w and color, sound Dating from the sixties and compiled by George Maciunas (1931-1978, founder of Fluxus), Fluxfilm Anthology is a document consisting of 37 short films ranging from 10 seconds to 10 minutes in length.
These films (some of which were meant to be screened as continuous loops) were shown as part of the events and happenings of the New York avant-garde. Made by the artists ranging from Nam June Paik and Wolf Vostell to Yoko Ono, they celebrate the ephemeral humor of the Fluxus movement. Fluxus' interdisciplinary aesthetic brings together influences as diverse as Zen, science, and daily life and puts them to poetic use.

And after all - the human life is a journey towards our own understanding about our personal empirical and existential boundaries. I believe that such reflections, transcends the personal connotation, because the relationship with our parents is essential and deeply encrusted in every one of us – no matter we have it or we lost it. More than any other director, Stanley Kubrick is worshiped among his fellow filmmakers, and that reputation has only grown since his death in 1999. Paths of Glory, Lolita, Dr. Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, and Full Metal Jacket are revered as sacred texts among those who make movies. Though Kubrick never won a best picture or best director Oscar (his only trophy was for visual effects on 2001), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences chose to pay tribute to the filmmaker with a special showcase of his films and a reunion of four of his stars, who shared offbeat, funny, and often bizarre stories of the elusive filmmaker.
