Today I’m showing you how to make 7 of my favorite popcorn flavors, from herby ranch to gingerbread! The day I learned that popcorn is a whole grain was a pretty big day. Suddenly my favorite mindless-munching snack was a healthy one, and let’s just say I ate a lot of popcorn after that discovery. But while many store bought flavored popcorns are loaded with butter and sugar, you can make your own homemade popcorn seasoning at home that’s healthier (and cheaper!) Than the store bought stuff. How to make flavor stick to homemade popcorn There are a few ways to make the seasonings really stick to the popcorn. Another way to ensure your seasonings stick is to swap out regular sugar for powdered sugar in the sweet recipes. Savory Popcorn Recipes Ranch Popcorn Seasoning: ½ tsp dried dill, ½ tsp dried chives, ½ tsp garlic powder, ½ tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp salt, ¼ tsp pepper. Herbed Ricotta Bruschettas. Prepare a charcoal grill with hot coals or turn a gas grill to medium-high heat.
Combine the ricotta, scallions, dill, chives, 1 teaspoon salt, and ½ teaspoon pepper and set aside. Cut the bread in half and cut each half into 6 thick slices to make 12 slices total. When the grill is hot, brush the bread with olive oil and grill on each side for 1½ to 2 minutes, until lightly browned. Remove from the grill and rub each slice of bread with the cut side of the garlic clove.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper and spread with the herbed ricotta. Set a large sieve over a deep bowl. Pour the milk and cream into a stainless-steel or enameled pot such as Le Creuset. Pour the mixture into the cheesecloth-lined sieve and allow it to drain into the bowl at room temperature for 20 to 25 minutes, occasionally discarding the liquid that collects in the bowl. Place the salad greens in a large bowl.
