We now spend more than eight hours a day consuming media

Here is the letter, which was posted on Facebook: A letter to our daughter Dear Max, Your mother and I don’t yet have the words to describe the hope you give us for the future. Your new life is full of promise, and we hope you will be happy and healthy so you can explore it fully. Like all parents, we want you to grow up in a world better than ours today. While headlines often focus on what’s wrong, in many ways the world is getting better. We will do our part to make this happen, not only because we love you, but also because we have a moral responsibility to all children in the next generation.

We believe all lives have equal value, and that includes the many more people who will live in future generations than live today. 135.full. Digital fashion trends: Social media a ‘big influence on nation’s wardrobe’

Research has revealed the influence of social media on our personal style and shopping habits. The research, which polled 2,000 men and women from ages 18 to over 60 highlights the cultural and behavioural shift caused by the democratisation of fashion through social media. In the twenty-teens* people’s shopping behaviours have changed as we strive to be social media-ready 24/7. Philip Colbert: Why Pop Art Fashion must be pushed

Together, they create something relevant and modern and because of this I believe Pop Art Fashion should be promoted more as an artistic genre in its own right. Creatively, I think it can be pushed to new heights. The philosophy of pop art promotes bold communication and use of global symbols that can meaningfully engage directly with the public. Clothing is the ultimate democratic art platform – it knows no gallery wall limitations, it crosses cultural divides with ease. The Role of Imagination in Expressive Consumption Situations. 1.

The Role of Imagination in Expressive Consumption Situations

Introduction Self-expansion theory argues that close relationship partners are included in self (Aron, Aron, & Norman, 2001). Extending this theory from interpersonal relationship to brand relationship, brand partners are seen a part of consumers’ self-identities (Reimann & Aron, 2009), that is consumer-brand congruence. This connection between consumer-brand identification and brand relationship has been taken for granted (Fournier, 2009), but never has it been empirically investigated (Reimann & Aron, 2009). This study examines this connection by taking imagination into consideration. 2.

Social Media Podcast for Social Business by Shane Gibson Speaker and Author

Since I stepped into the ring and became a guerrilla author in writing Guerrilla Social Media Marketing with Jay Conrad Levinson I have come across all kinds of misunderstanding, misuse and abuse of the term guerrilla marketing. Today’s podcast was inspired by what I can describe as a well meaning (or possibly not) but off-base commenter on the Creative Guerrilla Marketing blog. I decided instead of just replying in the comments section that I would take the time to respond in the form of a podcast.

Why? I also think it’s important to establish that Guerrilla Marketing is well defined, and it’s body of wisdom and definition that is widely accepted and used by over 20 million readers of the Guerrilla Marketing Series of books. Face to face with your closet, you pull out the suit that's needed altering for two years, the blouse that doesn't go with anything, and the shoes that...why did you buy them, anyway? With the reject pile rising as fast as your frustration, you shout the lament of women everywhere: Stop the material madness! The Psychology Behind Fashion's Latest Favorite. Why is the classic black and white color combo termed “fashion” this spring? Why is a miniskirt in today and man-tailored pants, tomorrow? My theory is that fashion trends are, in large part, influenced by cultural and societal trends. For example, right around the peak of the recession a few years ago, there was a huge menswear trend in womenswear. My theory was that because women had to be breadwinners, men felt inadequate. While I was interning in NYC a few years ago at Armani Exchange, I began my investigation into the psychology behind fashion.

The definition of a fashion trend is: A certain style in fashion or entertainment which is popular at a certain point in time. So why, as humans, do we feel the need to join in on trends which may only last a season? Our brains love new trends because they are just that, new and exciting. Fashion. Mirror, Mirror... (You lucky readers, you!) Below please find a series of edited excerpts from my PhD qualifying exam on Cultural Sociology. How we use fashion as an identity. Many of us look into our closet every morning and ponder, “What do I feel like wearing today?” This question can have many different influences on what we wear each day. What we end up wearing depends on how we feel; are we bloated, are we feeling skinny, did we wake up happy, or upset, do we feel rested or are we sleep deprived.

Clothes are supposed to give us a sense of security in presenting ourselves to society. They can give us the power to present ourselves as sexy, as feminine, or any other attitude or identity we want. If we leave the house unsure of our fashion choice, most likely we will second guess ourselves all day; pulling, tugging, and adjusting the outfit of choice.

The phrase, “fashion choice”, doesn’t simply imply the articles of clothing that we choose to put on, it also includes the identity we choose to represent for the day; may that identity be a gender identity or a sexual identity is up to the individual.
