La combinaison de la vitesse de rotation et de la force axiale appliquée sur le fluoperceur crée une chaleur frictionnelle. La température de l'outil peut atteindre 900 °C et la pièce 700 °C. La matière est transformée à l'état de "super-plastic", permettant à l'outil de déplacer la matière pour former une douille. La hauteur de la douille obtenue représente environ 3 à 4 fois l'épaisseur initiale de la matière. Voir photo

H. Plauson: British Patent # 157,263 -- Process & Apparatus for Converting Static Atmospheric Electrical Energy into Dynamic Electrical Energy... Plauson was the director of the Fischer-Tropsch "Otto Traun Research Laboratories" in Hamburg, Germany during the Weimar Republic of the 1920s. He built on Nikola Tesla's idea for connecting machinery to the "wheelwork of nature". Plauson's US Patent # 1,540,998 describes methods to convert alternating radiant static electricity into rectified continuous current pulses. He developed the Plauson's converter, an electrostatic generator.

This document describes the details of the above self-starting solar-powered Stirling engine prototype. The white box at the lower right houses the controller which automatically starts this engine at a temperature ratio of 1.0675 which is about 35degF temperature difference at typical operating temperatures. Typical operation is between 100 and 200 rpm depending on the temperature ratio. The controller requires an external power source for monitoring temperatures, starting the engine, and logging and displaying run data. Running on such a low temperature differential this engine has minimal power output and probably never exceeds 10mW.

This little corner of the web is about the things I'm currently interested in. My interests tend to vary over time, and while I might be continuously interested in some topic, it might not enjoy any actual attention for some time as other interests wax and wane. Metalwork When my father still worked he had a workshop full of machine tools and I learnt a little bit of machining on them after school. The school I went to did not offer metalwork, only woodwork, so I was left to teach myself.
