Lindsey Graham’s Brett Kavanaugh rant, and history with Trump, explained

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was ready to take a stand — and become Kavanaugh’s most impassioned Republican defender. In a lengthy, often-shouted statement, Graham declared that Democrats wanted to “destroy this guy’s life” and put him through “hell,” called Kavanaugh’s treatment “crap,” dubbed the hearing “the most unethical sham since I’ve been in politics,” and said Republicans who vote no would be “legitimizing the most despicable thing I have seen.” As for Ford — of whom Graham said, 11 days earlier, “I would gladly listen to what she has to say” — he dubbed her a “victim.” That is, a victim of Democrats, who weren’t “protecting” her.

The NRA is being supported by these companies

A number of corporations are making membership to the group, which opposes nearly all gun safety legislation, more enticing by partnering with the NRA. After paying the gun lobby’s $40 annual fee, members are offered access to a range of discounts and “five-star savings.” Much like AARP or AAA offer discounts for their own members, the NRA promotes its discounts for members as a selling point for why people should join.

The “valuable 5-star benefits” promised include not just a subscription to an NRA magazine and a gun-owner liability protection policy but also savings on insurance, identity theft protection, hearing aids, car rentals, moving vans, shipping, and even wine. Netanyahu son bragged about gas deal outside strip club, tape reveals

The recording of the conversation, which took place outside a strip club, is the latest revelation to cast light on the Netanyahu family’s relationships with wealthy tycoons, which have so far spawned two corruption investigations into the prime minister’s activities. According to the Israel Television Channel, the tape features the voices of Yair Netanyahu and Ori Maimon, a son of the gas tycoon Kobi Maimon. Maimon Sr is a shareholder in Isramco, which owns the Tamar gas fields. According to the reports, Yair and friends, with his government-provided security guard and driver in tow, were going from one strip club to another. This old drug was free. Now it's $109,500 a year. Many liberals and progressives fear that Sinclair Broadcast Group’s attempt to buy Tribune Media will result in a new, all-powerful, Trump-aligned national TV network and deepen the conservative movement’s existing dominance of radio.

Sinclair's vast media merger threatens democratic ideals. Congress must fight it

To be sure, Sinclair’s existing programming is to the right of Fox News. But this is not the right reason to challenge the deal. Neither liberals nor conservatives should allow the government to approve or disapprove of media mergers based on the corporation’s political ideology. The right reason to oppose this deal is that Sinclair’s size and market dominance already threatens the open marketplace of ideas upon which our democracy depends. Allowing Sinclair to combine with another media giant would only make the threat worse.

Trump's 'election integrity' group is waging war on the right to vote. The Trump presidency is opening up a new battlefront in the intense and controversial war over American voting rights. After a decade of wrangling between Democrats who have sought to expand voting opportunities and Republicans who have invoked the specter of voter fraud to restrict them, the focus is now on purging registration lists – even at the risk of kicking large numbers of eligible voters off the rolls. Both Trump’s justice department and his newly formed Presidential Commission on Election Integrity are involved in broad data collection and new policy proposals to “clean up” the voter rolls in ways that critics fear will have a disproportionate impact on blacks, Latinos and newly naturalized citizens.
