Bloom's Taxonomy. Bloom's wheel, according to the Bloom's verbs and matching assessment types.

Bloom's Taxonomy

The verbs are intended to be feasible and measurable. Bloom's taxonomy is a classification of learning objectives within education. It is named for Benjamin Bloom, who chaired the committee of educators that devised the taxonomy, and who also edited the first volume of the standard text, Taxonomy of Educational Objectives: The Classification of Educational Goals. Bloom's taxonomy refers to a classification of the different objectives that educators set for students (learning objectives).

It divides educational objectives into three "domains": cognitive, affective, and psychomotor (sometimes loosely described as "knowing/head", "feeling/heart" and "doing/hands" respectively). Bloom's taxonomy is considered to be a foundational and essential element within the education community. History[edit] The first volume of the taxonomy, "Handbook I: Cognitive" (Bloom et al. 1956) was published in 1956. Cognitive[edit] RevisedBloomsHandout.

LiveBinders: I would be remiss if I didn't post this. Taxonomy of Synthesis. Why a taxonomy?

Taxonomy of Synthesis

Not all synthesis requires thought, originality or imagination. The mere act of squishing a bunch of information together — smooshing or smushing or compacting a heap of facts — is low grade synthesis. It requires little thought. The creation of a poem, a garden, a symphony or a good bottle of wine is quite a different matter. A taxonomy provides clarity about levels of challenge and value - as with the taxonomies created by Bloom for Affective and Cognitive domains. By alerting teachers and students to these levels, we hope to inspire production at a high level of originality and creativity.

Another Brick in the Wall When students do little more than scoop up information - all that is required by most topical research assignments - they are simply putting more bricks in the wall. How to save, work with multiple apps and share. iPad Published on December 17th, 2012 | by Mark Anderson One of the greatest positives of the iPad as a learning tool in education are the many different apps that allow students to create amazing pieces of work which demonstrate their learning.

How to save, work with multiple apps and share

Not only that, but the productivity tools that go with their day to day activities are vast. Whittling down recently our core apps for students, you’ll see there are tools for taking notes, creating professional documents, presentations, making books, creating screencasts, the whole lot. One of the negatives with the iPad though has been the problems associated with workflow. Some recent developments have really helped to alleviate many of these concerns. Firstly, with the advent of iOS6 came the option to be able to open files within apps in other apps. In fact, this new option has been massive. Above, you can see just some of the options I get upon choosing to open my Keynote presentation in another app. The list goes on… “Save early, save often.” Bloomsapps.

Cogs of the Cognitive Processes I began to think about the triangular shape of Bloom's Taxonomy and realized I thought of it a bit differently.Since the cognitive processes are meant to be used when necessary, and any learner goes in and out of the each level as they acquire new content and turn it into knowledge, I created a different type of image that showcased my thoughts about Bloom's more meaningfully. Here is my visual which showcases the interlocking nature of the cognitive processes or, simply, the "Cogs of the Cognitive Processes".
