Can someone explain to me how you can have a wrong side on the FIRST ROW? I am so confused! The picture shown is the Right side (public side) ... so the first row you really notice there is the 2nd (patterned) row.... The pattern's 1st row is on the non-public side.... also known as Wrong side. Once you make a swatch you will note the difference. The rows with even numbers will be the front (public, right) side, abbreviated RSThe odd numbered rows will be the back side, abbreviated WS for wrong side A lot of knitting looks nice on both sides. Really it's up to you which side you prefer! SOME pattern designers plan to have the first row be the cast on row, thus the first row that you actually knit is the WS row.
