Since trying this Broccoli Rabe and Sausage Parsnip Spiralized Pasta a few weeks back, I’ve been craving more dishes with spiralized parsnips. Crazy how a vegetable I normally wouldn’t eat can be incorporated into a meal and taste so good! Miso Glazed Turnips. I was inspired to make this recipe for our CSA members while we were harvesting turnips for their vegetable boxes.

This is a simple side dish that tastes great, is easy to whip up and highlights one of our favorite spring root vegetables. It was the recipe of the week for our Tumbleweed Farm community and I think you all will enjoy it too! One of the highlights of growing food and having a CSA is that it gives me an excuse to sneak away to my kitchen in the evenings (while Taylor still busts his ass in the fields) and create recipes that I think our members will enjoy. Both Taylor and I agree that it’s totally worth it to have recipe suggestions for our members so that they don’t feel overwhelmed with the diversity in their boxes.

In their veggie boxes this week and I thought this salad would be a great way to highlight these seasonal gems. And while I’m over the moon that we are having an abundant year for peas I must admit that harvesting peas (of any kind!) Is one of my least favorite farm chores. The rows are endless, it’s usually hot as hell, the buckets fill up quickly, and before you know it, you need to turn around and bushwhack your way back to the beginning of the row (where the truck waits) unload and head back where you left off.

We've managed to stay pretty healthy. Well, except for that terrible chest cough that everyone seems to be sporting. You know, the one that overstays it's welcome by about a month. Both girls got it. Soleil was hit especially hard for a couple of days. A chest cold - bronchitis, respiratory infection, whatever you want to call it - is not fun.

This will cure you. Got a hacking chest cough? Most stores cut off the turnip greens, which is a shame because not only are they tasty (something along the lines of kale, mustard greens and arugula) but they are packed with vitamins and minerals - vitamin K, calcium, vitamin A, and beta carotene to name a few.
