A Post By: Darren Rowse Yesterday I was doing a little analysis of the statistics behind dPS as I did a little planning for the coming months on the site and as I looked at them I realised that some of what I was seeing would probably be interesting for you our readership.
I’ll share a few of the stats below – but I thought that of particular interest to newer readers of dPS would be our a list of our most read tutorials and tips. I have had the lace for this skirt for about a year now (seriously), and have finally gotten around to making it. This idea has been in my head for a long time and it's nice to see if finally completed! (you can tell how long it took me to do, because my nail polish changes throughout the tutorial) I found this lace at Joanns and fell instantly in love. Want to make one? Lace for Days Skirt You will need: 1.5 yards of fabric. Step 1: Lay your pencil skirt on your pattern fabric/paper to create the pencil skirt pattern for the main structure of the skirt. You can do this directly onto your main fabric, but I used a grid fabric just to be safe. Make sure to note of where your darts are, if your skirt has any.
Step 2: Cut out the front and back pieces of your skirt (these will probably be different sizes if one side has darts), and cut out 4 waistband pieces. This led me to create a simple design which converted second hand men's button-down dress shirts into cute tanktops that could be worn in more than one way.

The Shirt Skirt | Sew Like My Mom. July 28, 2010 I’m so excited to post about this! When I met Dana, I fell in love with the skirt she was wearing. She made it herself (obviously) and she showed us how simply she’d shirred the waistband. The next day, during the mystery workshop at Whipstitch, we were encouraged to use thrifted tees. I’m devastatingly terrified of knits so I steered clear and made my (award winning) cotton fabric dress. But I was inspired. I developed an idea in my head I thought just might be crazy enough to work. The Hubs thought I was a little crazy when I explained my idea to him. It’s the easiest thing in the world to do! The shirt skirt perfect for summertime.
I wore the green and white one to Sofie’s birthday party. I had 2 women in Walmart stop me to tell me how comfy my skirt looked and when I told them how I made it, they demanded I call Rachael Ray immediately! The process is so easy. I do my shopping at Goodwill for 1 reason. So, get your super cheap thrifted shirt. And that’s it! Sewing 101: making a pouf. Add a burst of color to your room with this crafty pouf!

Brooch Wooden pegs. Easy no sew Roman Shades. I'm so happy today! I just finished hanging my new Roman Shades in my kitchen! The windows in there had been bare for years and honestly, my neighbors were starting to complain. You see, when you look out of my kitchen windows you see my neighbor's house and driveway. There's no buffer zone between our homes. Time to cover them up! Finally, I got up the courage to begin the project. In this post I'm going to show you how I did it, because I did tweak it a bit to make it easier for me. First I started with cheap mini blinds from Walmart.
Go to your window and measure the height and width. With the measurements taken, begin preparing the mini blind. Mini blinds have a series of cords that hold the plastic strips in place and help lift the shade. With the ladder cord removed, the plastic strips will slide freely up and down the lift cord. Okay, so I know that my shade is 54 inches long and that every 6 inches will be a pleat. You'll see inside the end knot of the lift cord. Tutorial ~ The Knot So Hard Flip Flop Diy. Oh I am so excited about this project! Any DIY that takes less than 30 minutes is worth getting excited about, no? These flip flops are so easy, and so so comfortable. The best part? They only cost me $1.oo. I saw a similar pair at Target, which I would have bought had they fit.
Supplies: flip flopskitchen scissors or an exacto knifeabout a 1/4 yard of fabric off the bolt, or scrap fabrichot glue – not necessary, but if you have it, it couldn’t hurt Fabric Cuts: You will need four 4½ x 24 inch strips. Assembly: First you will push the straps through the back a little and cut off the wide part holding it. Okay, now we have our flip flop bottoms, sans the straps. Cut all of your tips into a point like shown. Now take two strips and pull two ends through the hole at the toe. Tie a good and tight double knot. Cut the little tails off. Now turn the flop over. Tie a second knot right behind the first knot, good and tight.

It was elegant, looked simple enough, and was perfect timing, since I was contemplating redoing the guest bathroom. To say it was a tedious project is an understatement. It took time and patience, but overall it was completely worth it! And best of all, it didn't cost me a dime! Here are pictures of my guest bathroom before it was painted and stenciled. It was an ugly green and somehow I was convinced that I had to do a color in there. When deciding on the actual wall color I picked the one in the middle.
