The shipment was transported from the shipper factory to airport (ex-works) in collaboration with various stakeholders (trucker, carrier’s local agent and ground-handler). The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets that continue to suffer from weak global trade and the intensifying trade dispute between the US and China. Freight capacity, measured in available freight tonne kilometers (AFTKs), rose by 2.6 percent year-on-year in July 2019. Capacity growth has now outstripped demand growth for the ninth consecutive month. The impact of the US-China trade war and weaker manufacturing conditions for exporters in the region was seen on the Asia-Pacific airlines that saw demand for air freight contract by 4.9 percent in July 2019, compared to the same period in 2018. “Trade tensions are weighing heavily on the entire air cargo industry. The airline already has a direct flights on the Mumbai-Jeddah and Mumbai-Kuwait routes. “The airline currently operates daily non-stop flights between Mumbai and Jeddah, thereby extending direct connectivity between the capital cities of India and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA),” IndiGo said in a statement. IndiGo has around 47 per cent share of the domestic passenger market, making it the largest airline in India.

Hourcade, who will join TIACA from September 2019, will prioritise the development of the Association’s Sustainability Program, including the first Sustainability Award, and the delivery of the Cargo Service Quality (CSQ) objectives for the tool, which went live in February 2019. She will also head further projects as the Association is on a growth drive.

Produce exported from India include summer fruits such as mangoes and guavas and vegetables such as okra, drumstick and chillies. The freight division of Emirates moved over 150,000 tonnes of perishables and 27,000 tonnes of pharmaceuticals through Dubai between the beginning of April and mid-August 2019. BLR Airport will use this plastic to conduct trials that would enable it to pave the roads within the Airport campus. Worshipful BBMP mayor Gagambike Mallikarjun handed over the plastic to a team from BIAL in the presence of BBMP commissioner, N Manjunath Prasad, IAS; D Randeep, IAS, special commissioner – solid waste management, BBMP and Ravikumar Surpur, IAS, special commissioner – health, BBMP. BIAL will need over 50 tonnes of plastic to pave approximately a 50-lane-km of internal roads.

IATA will focus on the theme of shaping a sustainable future together with airlines and its partners. “The airline industry is still earning money and we are expecting to deliver a return on invested capital for a record fifth year — but just barely. Rising fuel prices, slowing demand growth, trade wars and geopolitical tensions all are challenging the industry’s fortunes.
