President and chief executive officer William J (Bill) Flynn will become chairman of the board effective January 1, 2020. Flynn will retire from his post after a successful 13-year tenure. Flynn’s successor as president and CEO will be John W Dietrich, current executive vice president and chief operating officer. Dietrich will become president and chief operating officer effective immediately, and he will retain the role as president when he assumes the role of chief executive officer on January 1, 2020. Additionally, Robert F Agnew, current chairman of the board, will become the board’s lead independent director, effective January 1, 2020. “One of our key responsibilities as a board is the implementation of a leadership transition plan to ensure the company’s continued success in the future,” said Agnew. The new frequency connects Luxembourg to Jakarta once a week. The flight leaves the Grand-Duchy on Sunday and arrives in Jakarta on Monday. The rotation then continues through Hong Kong and Ashgabat before returning to Luxembourg on Tuesday morning. With the launch of this route, it becomes the only all-cargo carrier to offer a direct main deck connection between Europe and Indonesia. The route will allow the airline to cater for a wide variety of commodities, as well as off-size freight such as oil and gas industry equipment, machinery, spare parts or aircraft engines. The main cargo transiting through the area will include apparel, footwear, pharmaceuticals perishables and live animals. Source….www.itln.in June 27, 2019: Independent handler Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) has become Hong Kong’s first organisation to sign up to ULD CARE’s new Unit Load Device (ULD) Code of Conduct.

Hactl signed the Code of Conduct Agreement at IATA’s International Ground Handling Conference in Madrid in May this year. The 10-point Code of Conduct is a voluntary agreement promoting best practice in the handling of ULDs, and represents a gold standard benchmark for their safe and efficient operation on the ground and in flight. The Code’s primary aim is to reduce avoidable damage and loss of ULDs throughout the supply chain. A number of airlines, handlers, forwarders and ULD suppliers have already signed up to the code. “The ULD is fundamental to the modern air cargo industry; but it’s an everyday item that we all take for granted, and which many do not treat with the necessary care and respect.” said Wilson Kwong, chief executive, Hactl.

Source….www.itln.in June 26, 2019: The Sea Life Trust has confirmed that the two beluga whales, Little Grey and Little White, delivered to Iceland recently by Cargolux Airlines, have reached their final destination, the world’s first open water sanctuary for beluga whales. The Cargolux pilots visited the sanctuary to ensure the whales were doing well.

On June 19, Little Grey and Little White touched down in Iceland safely aboard Luxembourg-based airline Cargolux’s 747-400ERF freighter plane. The seasonal services will be operated between July 2 and August 31 with the Airbus A320 aircraft. The flights will depart Abu Dhabi at 2.15 pm every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Alexandria at 4 pm. Return flights will depart Alexandria at 4.50 pm, arriving back in Abu Dhabi at 10.40 pm.
