Stencil your way to a stylish home - Yahoo! Homes Ed Roth's stencil designs offer an updated and more personalized alternative to wallpaper. (Photo: Stencil 1) Stencil designer Ed Roth knows how to add punch to just about any space with paint and stencils. Yep, stencils. But banish those thoughts of the country geese or ivy on the walls at your aunt’s house. And maybe send a thank-you note to Ed Roth. “It’s addictive once you get started with it,” says Roth, author of several stencil books including “Stencil 101” and “Stencil 101 Decor” from Chronicle Books. Ready to start? (Photo: Stencil 1) It’s not wallpaper -- it’s stenciled It might look like high-end wallpaper behind that cute baby and changing table, but Roth created this look by repeating a pattern. Why stenciling rather than wallpaper? Quick stenciling tip: Lightly coat the back of your stencil with spray adhesive to help it cling to the wall. Create high-design throw pillows with stencils Quick stenciling tip: Keep in mind that some fabrics absorb more paint than others.

How to make 3D paper ball ornaments I love 3D paper things. Love. And when I saw a little picture of what appeared to be paper balls in a CB2 catalog, I thought, "I am going to make those." So the other day while Alex was writing a paper about mysterious things like polymers and flexible films and tactoids, I made a paper ball. Then I proudly announced I had created a tactoid and it was sitting on my desk. He giggled. These are made from 12 slotted flower shapes that fit together to form a sphere. If you want to hang your ornament, you might like to add the string before assembling the ball. Use the slits to join petals together. It might be helpful to think of the first piece as the "north pole," and then add a row of five flowers encircling it. Here's what it looks like upside-down:
Made2Style Little Fabric Scrap Earrings Last year I had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan. The country is an amazing place to visit, with beautiful temples, fantastic natural landscapes and some of the nicest people I have ever met. In the shopping districts in Taipei, there are hundreds of cool little shops, many filled with trendy, zakka-style handmade jewellery, bags and clothing. In one of these, I saw some tiny little fabric earrings. They were so simple and cute, I still don't know why I didn't pounce on them immediately. These earrings are a great way to use up little scraps of a favourite fabric you just can't throw away. 1. 2. 3. 4.
