Handbook for Life: 52 Tips for Happiness and Productivity | zen habits. By Leo Babauta This is something I’ve been wanting to write for some time — a Handbook for Life. Now, is there any handbook that can be a guide to every single person? Of course not. It’ll also become apparent from the links in this handbook that I’ve written about this stuff before. How to use this handbook This handbook is not meant to be a step-by-step guide, nor should you adopt all the tips below. If we buy into our behavior definition of “me,” which most humans do, we can learn to excuse almost any annoying action by saying, “That’s just the way I am!” Some years ago, I worked with a CEO who was generally regarded as a great leader of people but was seen as lacking in the ability to provide positive recognition.

“Is that your excuse for not giving recognition?” “Yes,” he replied. He had high standards — and people didn’t always meet them. “Yes.” 100 Inspiring Quotes & Demanding Joy - StumbleUpon. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car. The last thing I want to do is hurt you; But it’s still on the list. Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak. If I agreed with you we’d both be wrong. We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public. War does not determine who is right – only who is left. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. Evening news is where they begin with ‘Good evening’, and then proceed to tell you why it isn’t. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. A bus station is where a bus stops. How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? I didn’t say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
