#MapJam 1.0: Fifty cities around the world began mapping their shared resources in October and November in 2013 during Shareable's first annual global #MapJam. This was just the beginning of the Sharing Cities Network - an ambitious project to create one hundred sharing cities by 2015. A Sharing City is a city where housing, food, transportation, energy, and money are locally owned and democratically governed. Where we create our own meaningful and dignified work together and creatively play in community centers, urban farms, makerspaces and art collectives.

If you have a map, you'd like to send to the list, please email to Asia Europe. Community Maps. The Commons Have Come to Town. Article and images cross-posted from Spain’s recent municipal and regional elections have transformed the entire political scene. New citizen coalitions with roots in community groups allied with small progressive political parties won unexpected victories in several large cities.

This, plus the fact that two new national political parties -- Podemos and Ciudadanos -- burst decisively onto the political stage in the regional elections, has blocked the bipartisan (PP-PSOE) system created with the 1975 democratic transition. Victorious in seven major cities throughout the country, including the three largest ones (Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia), these coalitions open the door to a different sort of transition, questioning the dominant political culture and mentality, and in most cases putting in place minority governments, thus obliging various parties to negotiate joint platforms. Enspiral Space is Enspiral's co-working facility in Wellington, New Zealand. (Courtesy Enspiral) While it seems clear that New Zealand-based social enterprise network Enspiral is doing exciting things in the social impact space, it can be difficult, at first, to understand what exactly Enspiral is. It is easier to begin with what Enspiral is not. Enspiral is not an incubator or an accelerator. It is not a training program, nor is it an advisory service. Enspiral's hard-to-pin-downness is in part a product of its decentralized organizational structure, which is sometimes described as an open value network. Enspiral Members answer the question: What is Enspiral? Vial launched Enspiral in 2010, several years after quitting his job at a web development company to split his time between volunteering and contract work.

In four years, Enspiral evolved from a vision of "more people working on stuff that matters" to a global network of socially-minded individuals and enterprises. cPro Craigslist Mobile client. Sharing Cities Network. The Sharing Cities Network connects local sharing activists in cities around the world for fun, mutual support, and movement building. What is the Sharing Cities Network? Imagine a city where everyone’s needs are met because people make the personal choice to share. Where everyone can create meaningful livelihoods. Where fresh, local food is available to all. Where affordable housing and shared transportation are abundant. Where the poor are lifted up, the middle class is strengthened, and the rich are respected because they all work together for the common good. Our dream at Shareable is that everyone gets to live in such a place. What’s missing is there’s no single city where all these models are brought together.

This is a call to change that and the time to build sharing cities is now. So, we’ve created the Sharing Cities Network -- a grassroots network for sharing innovators to discover together how to create as many sharing cities around the world as fast as possible.
