SoundCloud takes steps to placate record labels Earlier this month, SoundCloud, a young German music sharing startup announced a partnership with Audible Magic, a media identification and copyright tracking provider, to identify copyright breaches and to automatically take them down. This move also comes at a time when the company has gotten new attention from investors: on January 8, the company announced that it had received $10 million (7.48 million euros) worth of combinded funding from Index Ventures in Geneva, Switzerland and Union Square Ventures in New York. The steps may seem understandable as sources close to SoundCloud claim that they are receiving letters from lawyers regarding copyright claims with an alarming frequency.

The Most Powerful Photos of the President in 2012 Though we're already four days into 2013, it's hard to not think back on all of the memorable moments in 2012. As an election year, 2012 was especially unforgettable for reelected President Barack Obama. Photographer Pete Souza was there to capture the President, his family, and the White House staff's most poignant moments throughout the year. While some images have circulated throughout the media, captivating audiences and allowing us to see the President interact with public figures like gymnast McKayla Maroney and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, others give us a more intimate view of him, one that we haven't seen before. The official White House collection of photos, aptly labeled as Year in Photographs 2012, reminds us of various events that took place in 2012, affecting everyone across the nation. From the mass shootings in Aurora and Newtown to Hurricane Sandy in New York and the wounded in Afghanistan, there have been some heartbreaking events.

TokBox Rolls Out Video Recording API, Primes Its Monetization Pump TokBox, a Sequoia-backed startup that offers tools for quickly integrating video functionality into apps and websites, is launching a new feature today for its OpenTok suite of video APIs: video recording and archiving. You may remember TokBox as the service that let users quickly jump into live video chats with each other, sort of like a web-based Skype video. But that changed this past February, when TokBox shuttered its struggling consumer-facing products and decided to focus exclusively on a set of video-focused APIs, storage, and streaming features collectively called the OpenTok platform. Obviously giving users the ability to record, save, and share video clips isn’t a new idea — people do it every day on sites like YouTube and Facebook — but the new video archiving API makes it relatively easy for other sites to integrate their own custom solutions.

A very serious site to put your photos on-line and maybe sell some. You get 50% and your pictures are copyrighted. I sold one picture and did over 500$ with time (1-2 years). Others live on it. It’s also a way to meet very creative people and photographers and to do some “missions “ and win a trip to Berlin see your picture exposed... I highly recommend this app they’re very nice and young enthusiastic people. by topoletta Dec 29
