Andy Denzler's paintings

At first, they look like corrupt high resolution photographs, damaged by a bad Internet connection. Then you find out that the author, Andy Denzler, is an expressionist painter who only works with canvas, oil and acrylic. For over 10 years, Andy's style had been abstract, with vague references to nature. Then, the shades of cinema and photo film appeared on his palette of colours. Denzler thus tried to adapt his abstract vocabulary to a figurative, wild and stratified language.

today and tomorrow

March 12th, 2012 Evan Roth has been living and making new work in Detroit for the last month, gearing up for a solo exhibition that opens this Wednesday at Eastern Michigan University: Welcome to Detroit . His new series of artworks is called: Propulsion Paintings. Loving it! As part of his residency at Eastern Michigan University, he’s teaching a course called Art and Hacking where he had the students create their own Propulsion Paintings as their first project.
You may have seen me post this photo to my instagram a couple days ago and yes, it is our next giveaway! Elli Popp sent over these beautiful ceramics featuring drawings by Edwyn Collins (had to link it for the Empire Records fans). So who wants ‘em?

There are two extronidarily beautiful things happening in this iPhone video by Patrick Colpron . The first is a spectacular six-sail kite designed and flown by Steve Polansky , and second is a heart-achingly wonderful song called Lighthouse by Patrick Watson . What a perfect moment in time, sort of an impromptu video poem. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/

Photography by Alfonso Monroy Inspired by the medical oddities in the famous Mütter Museum in Philadelphia, SARO’s signature cyclops skulls are now available in t-shirt form. Blow away those ubiquitous skull shirts and show your pride for the one-socket skull! 5 x 3.5 x 3cm (2″ x 1.38″ x 1.18″) These chocolate skulls with walnut/candy brains are genius and so well executed for such a small piece of chocolate! They are hand-crafted by twin sisters from Spain, Ruth and Sira García Trigueros who also happen to run their own little design and illustration shop, Sparganum .

Yuki Matsueda

‘While most designers are busying adding more and more elements into their artworks, Japan-based Yuki Matsueda has, however, managed to let some elements escape from his art pieces. The result seems quite amazing… A vivid 3D image is successfully created and all the elements are believed to be more shocking than those stay still on paper.’ http://sweet-station.com/blog/2011/10/yuki-matsueda/
