Fun With Vintage 70s and 80s Porn Logos. Last week a peculiar video appeared on the internet. Vintage Porn Logos exudes the same atmosphere as Justice’s very popular DVNO music video. This homage to 70s and 80s erotic and porn movies uses almost NSFW* film fragments, focusing on the vintage logos and movie titles that appear in the opening credits. While most of the – often hand drawn – designs are genuine, they have been recreated (or designed from scratch) and animated. The trailer-like short is a production by Pornographics Studio, a Spanish multidisciplinary studio in new technologies and multimedia art which operates from Barcelona since 1999. Vintage Porn logos from PornoGraphics on Vimeo.

Of course, I would be remiss not to take a look at the typographic treatment, so here is a run down of the video. I was quite surprised when I first saw the Pornographics Studio logo. This credit title is the real deal; a groovy, summery display face from the sixties/seventies, filled with a gradient in a ghastly colours. 40 Useful and Creative Infographics. This has been in the works for a while now. I released the current version of Anonymous in 2001, with a few tweaks and updates since, but nothing you could call a major new feature. In fact, there have been numerous requests for features from users, and many of these have been incorporated into Anonymous Pro, such as: Bold and italics, making it a complete four-style family Expanded character set, covering most Latin-based languages, as well as Greek and Cyrillic Metrics adjusted to make it more similar in size to other fonts Several characters redesigned for better readability and clarity Many small improvements to the overall design of the characters Box-drawing characters—you never know when you might need them I’m still in final testing, but I expect to release Anonymous Pro soon.

[Update: Anonymous Pro is available now.] And, like the current version, it will be free. Striking Web Sites with Font Stacks that Inspire - Inspiration B. Did you know that Web Designers have many dreams? We dream about the end of browser wars, death of IE6, we hope to see the end of raster wars and plead our case to powerful authorities to release more fonts into the public domain or at least distribute new Vista typefaces for other platforms. While we all wait for the world (or at least the World of Wide Web) to become more beautiful and complete, and beseeching for those wishes to come true, some designers take actions by actually saying good bye to IE6 and dropping support for that browser-dinosaur or doing their best and still managing to produce web sites with such a jaw dropping stunning web typography that would make even some leading print publications green with envy.

Last week I featured dozens of web sites that use only one of the ten core web fonts, Georgia, to delight our eyes with beautiful typography.
