Towards a Parametric Planning : danilnagy

In the past, the products of architecture were mainly drawings, which were static representations of buildings in their final form. Recently, however, rapidly evolving capabilities in design software have caused a major shift in architecture toward the production of dynamic models. By modeling not only the form but the relationships of various factors within a building, these models go beyond static representations and are able to change dynamically to accommodate ongoing changes in the design.

While the shift toward associative design is now undeniable, its repercussions are not yet clear, not only in architecture, but also in other fields dealing with the built environment. First, a few definitions: GREG LYNN FORM. Style and the Pretense of 'Parametric' Architecture. Style and the Pretense of 'Parametric' Architecture. Parametricism, architecture of hollow unreality? « Vews

This unreality has infused architectural production, often finding resolution in hysterical, liquid, fluid form at audacious scale – the kind of thing recently dubbed ‘Parametricism’ by Patrik Schumacher.’ The ideas of ‘differentiation’, the opposition to the ‘fixed’, has its own economic correspondent..” says Sam Jacob By Owen Hatherley Is it possible to be both builders of the prestige spaces of capital and self-declared avant-gardists? The pace, quantity and quality of the creative work in art, science and design was truly astounding, anticipating in one intense flash what then took another 50 years to unfold elsewhere in the world.

Charles Jencks. Parametricism vs. ? Advanced Geometrics/Parametrics in architectural practice. Universities where parametrical architecture is not fundamental in MArch II ? Is Parametricism really the new unified style!!! Between Mission Statement and Parametric Model. A crisis in architectural education is brewing.

Between Mission Statement and Parametric Model

I refer to the increasingly contentious divide between that cadre of junior faculty who espouse the gee-whiz form-making made possible by speculative parametric modeling and an -influenced student body demanding design studios that prioritize social relevance and environmental stewardship. [1] The inherent tension between these cultural positions has not yet been fully registered by design faculties nor acted upon with specific curricular reform — yet it’s hard to miss. On the one hand, the situation is generating strange, hybridized manifestations in design studios — notably the ubiquitous son-of-the-Yokohama Port Terminal proposal: an undulating green roofscape blanketing habitable space below. [2] On the other hand, many schools and departments are busy reforming their programs to better integrate sustainability criteria into studio exercises, often at the expense of other aspects of design thinking.

Patrik Schumacher on parametricism - 'Let the style wars begin' In an exclusive text for the AJ, Patrik Schumacher of Zaha Hadid Architects argues that the unified style of architecture for the 21st century will be parametricism In my Parametricist Manifesto of 2008, I first communicated that a new, profound style has been maturing within the avant-garde segment of architecture during the last 10 years.

The term ‘parametricism’ has since been gathering momentum within architectural discourse and its critical questioning has strengthened it. So far, knowledge of the new style has remained largely confined within architecture, but I suspect news will spread quickly once it is picked up by the mass media. Outside architectural circles, ‘style’ is virtually the only category through which architecture is observed and recognised. Ezioblasetti.net. Ezioblasetti.net. Ezioblasetti.net. HOME : ADRIAN LAHOUD.
