Year in Review: The Best Foreign Films of 2010

In case you’re wondering why certain films appear to be missing there are a few factors to take into account. First, films like Mother, A Prophet, The Good the Bad the Weird, and The Secret In Their Eyes are movies that made previous lists. Second, I haven’t seen everything that was released this year. And third, your favorite foreign release from 2010 may actually have been a piece of shit. I kid. But seriously, these are my picks for the ten best foreign language movies of the year in alphabetical order.

Now, the same people have gone back to the drawing back to create the 2011 version called ‘The Other 100 Greatest Movie Insults of All Time’! Both videos were created by Harry Hanrahan who has done yet another fantastic job making them. Great to see Hook, Cool Runnings and Coming to America (you sweat from a baboon’s balls!) Tribeca Film Festival Announces 2011 Lineup: 10 Films We Can't Wait to See. The 10th Tribeca Film Festival runs from April 20 to May 1 and includes 88 feature-length and 61 short films -- with online screenings for those who can't jaunt to the Big Apple for a film-fancy getaway.

They've announced their narrative and documentary competition and viewpoints section. True to the spirit of New York City, Tribeca's features make up a cinematic melting pot of goodness, with films from 32 different countries, including 43 world premieres. " ... We are excited about the quality, ingenuity, risk-taking and diversity of this year's program," says David Kwok, Director of Programming. Programmers sifted through 5,624 festival submissions to bring you the year's best and brightest movies, but we're pinpointing 10 films from the first half of its 10th anniversary feature slate we'll be keeping an eye on next month (in no particular order).
