Forest Biodiversity

I had this idea where you cut wide roadways into the forests ( I know already sounds bad ! ;-) Bare with me ;-) Instead of lots of logging roads you would have fewer wider roads . These would be used as fire breaks , fire accesses and for lumber extraction . They would also be for animals . Because animals actually need a certain amount of open area . Trees would only be taken at maturity and would be taken carefully not to disturb the other plants and animals . You would not need to replant because the area would naturally replenish itself . Not like they do it now . Basically they replace the forest with a tree farm no real diversity ! This would stop fires or at least suppress them . It would provide diversity , lumber , stop soil erosion and provide animal habitat all at the same time ! by mirlen101 Feb 22

Why are we a nation of tree-huggers?
