500px / Blog / Meet The Photographer Who Uses Real Animals In Her Dreamy Portraits (NSFW) At first glance, you may think the photograph above, taken by Russian photographer Katerina Plotnikova, is a composite or was enhanced in Photoshop. Think again. Yes, that is a living, breathing brown bear kissing the palm of a gorgeous woman — as if they had both stepped right out of the pages of a fairy tale. Swooning already? You'll find that the rest of Katerina's body of work is just as magical and provocative. Hi Katerina! KATERINA PLOTNIKOVA: Of course they are real! How adorable! KATERINA: I was born in a small town near Moscow, where I still live to this day. How did you discover photography? KATERINA: I was into painting all my life. Where do you find the inspiration for your work? KATERINA: Just about anything. Who are the photographers whose work you admire?

KATERINA: My favorites are, of course, Tim Walker, Annie Leibowitz, and Adam Smith. What camera, lenses, and other gear do you often use? KATERINA: I use Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 50mm f/1.2L. The beauty of waves; The stunning photos of Clark Little. 12 March 2014 Corno van den Berg Clark Little started making photos of the famous surfers of Hawaii. In the action; The rolling waves. But sometimes he timed wrong, but got a lovely photo of a wave crashing on the beach. He made even better bodies for his camera and started shooting. With stunning results. His latest book is called Shorebreak and contains over 100 excellent pictures of waves.

During this time he has photographed a wide variety of subjects, and is best known for his Cuba and Horses series. He draws inspiration from photographers Eugene Atget and Walker Evans. Like these great documentary photographers before him, Eastman holds the authenticity of the image as his highest goal.

He shuns the use of artificial light and uses long exposure times instead, waiting as long as it takes for the natural illumination of the room to expose his film properly. His photographs are in the collections of Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum, San Francisco Museum of Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The High Museum, Kemper Museum, New Orleans Museum of Art, Nelson-Atkins Museum, St. Louis Museum of Art, Amon Carter Museum, San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art and the International Center for Photography, New York. Home 1. Rosie Hardy - Self Portraits. Dreamlike Self-Portraits Express Young Artist's Inner Musings. Ben Zank is committed to producing a new photograph every single day of the year. The devoted young artist/photographer from New York is another master on the surreal on the rise, creating self-portraits that defy explanation or logic, while still keeping his viewers not only captivated, but entranced.

Zank is no doubt blessed with uncommon talent, and luckily for us, he is also dedicated to making art, fine art in fact. His flair definitely is evident in his extensive collection of originally conceived realities. ”I go wherever my imagination takes me,” says Zank of his decidedly offbeat work. Often times he is his own subject, dressed in dapper suits, placed inside bizarre situations that straddle the surreal and bizarre. He also has a penchant for shooting outdoors, indulging his eye for natural beauty. Zank was born in the Bronx and at the age of 18 he started taking photographs for kicks after he chanced upon a Pentax ME Super in his grandma’s attic. Ann Mitchell: The Razor's Edge - LENSCRATCH. Photographer and educator Ann Mitchell is finishing up year long sabbatical that has taken her work in a new direction. The time off from teaching allowed her to explore new ways of working and she has produced a brand new project of constructed images that are wonderfully surreal, psychological, and exquisitely crafted.

Ann considers herself an “urban archaeologist, attempting to find the poetry in the everyday experience of our interior and exterior landscapes.” Her work is currently on display at the PYO Gallery in Los Angeles in an exhibition curated by Sarah Lee that runs through July 27th. Born in New York City and raised in California, Ann received a BFA in Photography from Art Center College of Design. She worked as an award-winning advertising and editorial photographer for over a decade and then received an MFA from Claremont Graduate University.

Her photographs have been included in a large number of solo and group exhibitions in the western United States. The Razor’s Edge. Surreal Photo Manipulation By Photographer Dariusz Klimczak. EmailEmail Polish photographer Dariusz Klimczak composes dreamlike landscapes that hypnotize with their surprise and weirdness. The photographer’s digital photo manipulations open the door to his imaginative world, where a desolate desert is brought to life by quirky and playful characters. Everyday items clash in odd compositions with animals and humans, conflicting with gravity and the other physical laws without which our common sense would collapse. Dariusz Klimczak has been a professional photographer for 30 years, a few of which he spent creating photo manipulations. Source: kwadrart.com | behance | 500px | Facebook. Hauntingly Beautiful Portraits Combine Clever Photoshop Techniques and Ethereal Imagery.

While there certainly is no shortage of surrealist photographers these days, its widespread practice as both a theme and style makes it difficult to stand out. Just like any movement that becomes common, the challenge increases as it becomes more difficult to be noticed in sea of parroted artistic expressions. This however cannot be said of the mystical photography of Brooke Shaden.

Shaden makes use of a combination of clever digital Photoshop techniques and ethereal imagery to uproot us from reality. She catapults us to distant places of the mind’s eye. From red deserts of sand and fabric, to white wintery forests, Shaden’s dream-like images are laced with wonder and enchantment. Shaden was born in March of 1987 in Lancaster, Philadelphia, and grew up near the “Amish Country”.

She attended Temple University, finishing with two bachelors degrees in both film and English. See Shaden’s self-portrait work here. While Estonian photographer Kylli Sparre (better known as Sparrek) may have never shot a fashion editorial, the haunting and surrealistic images that she regularly uploads to Vogue Italia would fit right into the iconic fashion magazine. Take a look... With an eye toward the movement of fabrics and the female form, Sparre's work is, no doubt, influenced by her background in ballet.

Paul Zizka's long-exposure photographs place him in the context of Canada's awe-inspiring wilderness By Damien Gayle Published: 13:06 GMT, 14 January 2014 | Updated: 13:14 GMT, 14 January 2014 These beautiful long-exposure photographs offer a novel twist on the too-often shamelessly narcissistic trend for 'selfie' pictures which is sweeping the internet. Paul Zizka, 34, has put his own slant on the celebrity-led photographic genre, made popular by photo-sharing website Instagram, by including his silhouette in these dramatic shots of the Canadian wilderness. Rather that a vainglorious attempt to propel himself to 15 minutes of internet fame, his inclusion of himself in the shots is an attempt to show the relationship between a mere man and the awesome natural world surrounding him.

Communion: Canadian photographer Paul Zizka stands waist-deep in Lake Minnewanka, in Alberta's Banff National Park, in this twist on the trend for 'selfie' photographs. Tomas Eriksson - Fine Art Photographer From Sweden. Tomas Eriksson is a fine art photographer from the town of Gävle, which is in Sweden.

He is very enthusiastic about his wife and children, and I know that his focus is on his family above all. He is a marketing coordinator for a leading industrial welding and piping company in Sweden. For him, photography is a cure for the stresses of life. Being in the field with the camera makes him forget those everyday problems we all face. I must say that his cure is most excellent. Everyday life provides plenty of inspiration and motivation. As I mentioned by way of introduction, Tomas is from Gävle.

He is fascinated by industrial buildings as well as old buildings. I asked Tomas about his vision and dream. "My vision and dream when it comes to photography is to develop my photography style. Sweden, according to Tomas, has a long and strong tradition of nature and documentary style photography. Tomas shoots in RAW mode. Steve Carter - photo gallery. Billows of Colored Smoke Pervade the Air in Photo Series, ‘Pop!' Texas-based photographer Irby Pace stakes his vision of the predictable and typical. He does this in open fields, long and bending roads, bodies of still waters, shrub overgrown alleyways, and an assortment of landscapes devoid of activity.

Pace’s jolt to these benign imagery is a ubiquitous colored cloud, reminiscent of a magician’s smoke cover as he conceals a trick or sleight of hand. Pace’s tools of choice: helium balloons, a string, and smoke canisters used in paintball machines to create the mystifying clouds of colored smoke in everyone of his images. The collection is simply called, Pop! Pace elaborates on his simple concept of tinted smoke appearing in ordinary places, “With Pop! I am creating another way to view the traditional landscape through photography.

Pace was born in Odessa, Texas, where in 2005, he moved to the city of Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University where he earned his BFA in Photography in 2008. Speaking on his Pop! View Pop!
