By using sustainable management, conservation and restoration of ecosystems, as part of an overall EBA strategy, the Programme aims to reduce the vulnerability and enhance the resilience of select fragile mountain ecosystems and their local communities to climate change impacts. The promoted EBA measures carefully take into account anticipated climate change impact trends to help communities continuously adapt to a changing climate and increasing uncertainty. Miksi kouluissa syödään "kumiperunoita"? Syy ei olekaan hinnassa

" Kumisten perunoiden ongelma nousee jatkuvasti esiin, kun kysyy koululaisilta ja heidän vanhemmiltaan parannusehdotuksia kouluruokaan. Mutta miksi perunat tuodaan kouluihin kuorittuina? Esimerkiksi Kuopiossa kaupungin ruokapalvelujen suunnittelijat olisivat valmiita tuomaan kuorelliset perunat kouluihin. Osa oppilaistakin haluaisi itse kuoria perunansa. Toive kuorettomista perunoista on tullut kuitenkin kouluilta. France: New rooftops must be covered in plants or solar panels. France: New rooftops must be covered in plants or solar panels

The compromise law gives businesses the option of installing solar panels instead or partially cover the rooftops with living foliage. UNEP Online Course Focuses on Disaster Risk, Ecosystem-Based Solutions. 28 August 2014: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has unveiled the first-ever 'Massive Open Online Course' (MOOC) on how to minimize disaster risk through natural or ecosystem-based solutions.

UNEP Online Course Focuses on Disaster Risk, Ecosystem-Based Solutions

The MOOC, titled ‘Disasters and Ecosystems: Resilience in a Changing Climate,' which was introduced during the 5th Annual International Disaster Risk Conference (IDRC), aims to broaden awareness on a range of tools for eco-disaster risk reduction and adaptation by demonstrating how climate change, disasters and the environment are linked. The MOOC also aims to overcome the limited awareness of services offered by ecosystems and the “false perceptions” regarding their effectiveness in disaster risk reduction (DRR) by building “skills, scale and speed” in DRR efforts. Projections indicate that damages from disasters will increase to US$400 billion per year and, with climate change expected to worsen these impacts, identifying innovative solutions and responses has become an urgent priority.
