Lee Jeffries career began as a sports photographer, capturing the beautiful game of football in Manchester. Then a chance meeting with a homeless woman living in the streets of London changed his life forever. He has since dedicated himself to capturing gripping portraits of the disenfranchised. Shooting exclusively in black and white, Lee Jeffries’ 135+ pictures can be viewed in his Flickr Photostream.

The majority are closeup portraits with incredible detail. Each photograph exudes so much raw character and depth, you find yourself studying each shot with great intensity. Below is a sample of his large collection, the Sifter strongly recommends you check out his entire set on Flickr. Lee Jeffries lives in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Lee Jeffries recalls that, initially, he had stolen a photo from this young homeless girl huddled in a sleeping bag. Bookshelf Porn. Paper Darts: ART + LIT - Literary Magazine. Amerikkalainen sosiologi Philip Tetlock on osoittanut eeppiset mittasuhteet saaneessa tutkimusprojektissaan, miten rajallista paraskin tieto on. Jos otetaan huomioon, miten riippuvaisia me olemme asiantuntijoista, Tetlockin tulokset olivat monille järkytys.

Tetlockin tutkimuksen jälkeen television puhuviin päihin on ollut vaikea suhtautua muuna kuin hyvänä viihteenä. Kyse ei ole siitä, että olisimme hölmöjä. A Beautiful Mess. I love using cloth napkins to dress up our dinner table, and through the years I've grown even more fond of their sustainability and cost effectiveness.

Though, I'm not sure how cost effective it is if you keep buying more and more cloth napkins each year! This holiday season I thought it would be fun to look at how I could dress up the napkins I already own to give them an extra festive vibe. Check out three simple ways you can give new life to your table linens. And hey! Ribbon Trimmed Napkin This look is so (no sew) simple! Supplies:-ribbon-heat bond in width of ribbon-cloth napkin (buy mine here)-iron-fabric scissors (not shown above) Step One: Trim pieces of your ribbon to be about 1.5 inches longer than the width of your napkins. Step Two: Fold down the edges of each ribbon segment about 1/4" and iron flat. Step Three: Iron the heat bond to the ribbon (pressing with hot iron for two seconds), then peel off the paper backing. Pom-Pom Trimmed Napkin That's all there is to it! All That Is Interesting.

This map takes care of a glaring omission in that long list of attributes, trivial and otherwise (1), and provides an overview of state movies. To qualify as such, a state movie has to be set in said state, and its location must be recognisable from, referenced in and (somewhat) relevant to the movie.

A few movies cement the link to their state by name-checking the state itself or a location in it in the title (Raising Arizona, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Bull Durham), although a few mention a location outside the state itself (Fargo is actually in North Dakota, not in Minnesota; Kentucky's state movie is called Kalifornia). The title of Indiana's state movie Hoosiers refers to the nickname for its inhabitants. But most titles are non-place-specific, referring instead to the main character(s): Napoleon Dynamite (Idaho), What About Bob? Cakies. The Dame. Inspired by Ruby and her transition to a big girl room, the collection is a limited-edition bedding and home decor line for kids. It includes baby, toddler, and kids' bedding, pillows, lamps, plush toys, rugs, and a curated collection of art to go with it all. The Sundae Best collection is inspired by Ruby's favorite food—ice cream—and how fun it would be to sleep surrounded by your favorite treat. I wanted to create an abstracted version of ice cream with sprinkle sheets and a cone-inspired pattern on the duvet. Topped with the ice cream cone and cherry pillows, it's seriously what my dreams are made of. The Pattern Party collection is inspired by the shapes that kids draw when they are first learning to draw and explore their creativity.

On Monday, I'll be sharing before and after photos of Ruby's room as we transformed it from a baby room to a big girl room with my new collection! ARTICLES. Here are a collection of my posts that I received great feedback from, posts that I feel reveal a lot about life living with Chronic Illness. I get a lot of questions via this blog in regards to my tattoos and a couple of the questions are asked the most: "do you run into negativity having so many visible tattoos?

" and "I'm thinking of getting my arm/chest/other visible spot tattooed, any advice? " So let me tell you. But before I begin, you should know that this is coming from my experience and my experience alone. Things may be different for you, but for me, I've found that my life has absolutely changed since becoming what some would call "heavily" tattooed. Maybe this is because I come from a more conservative family, maybe it's because I don't fit into the "sorority girl" label that would otherwise be applied, maybe it's because I live in a small town.

Who knows. Because I have a few separate circles of friends, as I got more and more tattoos I became the "tattooed friend" in one of those groups. Also, know that your day to day life will be forever changed. Angela hardison. National Geographic's Photography Contest 2010. National Geographic is once again holding their annual Photo Contest, with the deadline for submissions coming up on November 30th. For the past eight weeks, they have been gathering and presenting galleries of submissions, encouraging readers to rate them as well. National Geographic was again kind enough to let me choose some of their entries from 2010 for display here on The Big Picture.

Now he is almost 80 and has made what is said to be his last film, and he's still at the job, reinventing. If only he had stopped while he was ahead. That would have been sometime in the 1970s.
