A refresher for you, Blooms traditional taxonomy which was published sometime in the middle of the last century was revised in 2001 and henceforth was labelled Blooms Revised Taxonomy. This revision is a little bit different from the original one in that it replaces nouns with verbs and places emphasis on the process of creating by putting it on the top of the thinking continuum. Since the emergence of the Revised Taxonomy, several educators have been adding to it expanding thus its scope and making it even more comprehensible by integrating technology component into it.

Change it up every 10 minutes with more active teaching techniques and more students will succeed, researchers say. A new study finds that undergraduate students in classes with traditional stand-and-deliver lectures are 1.5 times more likely to fail than students in classes that use more stimulating, so-called active learning methods. “Universities were founded in Western Europe in 1050 and lecturing has been the predominant form of teaching ever since,” says biologist Scott Freeman of the University of Washington, Seattle. But many scholars have challenged the “sage on a stage” approach to teaching science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) courses, arguing that engaging students with questions or group activities is more effective.
To weigh the evidence, Freeman and a group of colleagues analyzed 225 studies of undergraduate STEM teaching methods. Freeman says he’s started using such techniques even in large classes. What is Blended Learning? A quote from the former US Secretary of Education The goal of blended courses is to join the best features of in-class teaching with the best features of online learning to promote active independent learning.
Blended courses are courses in which a significant portion of the learning activities have been moved online, and time traditionally spent in the face-to face (FTF) classroom is reduced but not eliminated. Using computer-based technologies, instructors use the blended model to redesign some lecture or lab content into new online learning activities, such as case studies, tutorials, self-testing exercises, simulations, and online collaborations. There is no one model for blended learning. Depending on the course and instructor, the amount of time student spends online and face-to-face classroom will vary.
