At the suggestion of a friend, I am posting a tutorial on how to make a nice watercolor painting using plastic stencils! It really is quite a simple process and you end up with something that looks professional. I love sharing these little secrets with people. It's fun! So here is what you need to get started... Materials: watercolor paints paintbrush plastic stencils (I found some cheap ones at the dollar store) watercolor paper Step 1: Pick out the stencil you want to use and place it on top of your paper.

Step 2: Hold the stencil down tightly with one hand. Step 3: To give it a varied look, add several different colors in random areas of the stencil. Step 4: Fill in the entire area of the stencil and ever so carefully lift the stencil away from the paper. Step 5: Let your painting dry completely and there you have it... your own mini artwork! Tips and Tricks:If you notice that your watercolors are bleeding around the edges of the stencil you can try mixing less water with the paints. "Exploding Box" Class... 50 Ways To Re-Purpose & Reuse Glass Jars. Maker Mama Craft Blog: Thrifted Clock Redo. One of the things I always see at thrift stores are random pot lids in cute colors without a pot to go with them. I came up with the idea of turning one into a clock while shopping at my local Goodwill the other day, with the thought that I'd purchase a clock kit at the craft store. But for the sake of keeping it as green as possible (and making one less shopping trip) I decided to give an old clock new life, and voilà, the thrifted clock redo was born! What makes this project even better is that supplies--and time--are minimal.

Pick out a lonely (but cute) pot lid, a clock with hands to go with your pot (and that looks like it might work), a screwdriver, and you're ready. Every clock is a little different, so inspect the mechanism on the back carefully to see if it looks detachable. Now just find a wall to hang your clock and listen to it's sweet little ticking. Disclosure: I received a gift card from Goodwill SA to purchase the thrifted items in the post. 50 Clever DIY Ways To Organize Your Entire Life. I promise this will be the last one for a while! (I have just white-washed a lot of the walls in our home so I have been looking to make some colourful objects to hang up…these are just the job).

Making stellated dodecahedrons is fairly time consuming and requires a light-touch and a fair bit of patience…so teenagers/adults only! (I would say that each one takes about 2 hours to make…but you can do most of it with your feet up in front of the telly). As usual there is a how-to below…along with printable templates. It’s ‘summer’ here in the UK but it hasn’t stopped raining for months (or so it seems).

You will need – – – – – – – – // Scissors // Paper (or thin card) // Double sided tape (I also made one using a gluestick but the tape yielded much better results) // Ruler // Needle…or similar sharp point for scoring the paper 1. 2. 3&4. 5&6. To create the jar, choose a Theme for the contents, cut a strip of scrapbook paper in whatever design you like and wrap it around the jar. The theme can be based on a hobby, job, color, season, etc You'll Need: Fillings/Contents for your Jar based on the Theme you've chosen a Mason Jar (wide mouth or regular, both work fine) A strip of scrapbook paper Or wrapping paper in a pretty design or Tissue Paper Print or hand-write a label for your jar Simply wrap the strip around the jar (it's okay if it doesn't fit the entire way, you'll be adding a cute label anyways!)

Add your label, "______ in a Jar" Then carefully add your "ingredients" one item at a time. Themed Jar Ideas: DIY on Pinterest. Beads and Crystals Ring. This delicate beaded ring is made using the same stitch as the peyote rings, bracelets, and beads that we’ve posted before. This project is all about how changing up the beads used can make a huge impact on the look of the finished ring.

Supplies: - 3mm fire polished Czech crystals - 8/0 seed beads - 11/0 seed beads - 11/0 cylinder beads - beading needle - beading thread (I used Nymo 00) You can make this ring as tall as you want, but I found 7 crystals to be a nice size. If you use 7 crystals like I did you’ll need 14 each of the 8/0 and 11/0 seed beads, then a couple grams of the 11/0 cylinders. From this point on, I’ll refer to the 3mm crystals as “crystals,” the 8/0 seed beads as “large,”, the 11/0 seed beads as “medium,” and the 11/0 cylinders as “small.”

Want more information about seed bead sizes, shapes and finishes? Tension is important to this project – keep the thread as tight as you can without breaking the thread or hurting your hands. Add small beads to the end of the row. Say YES! to hoboken: DIY: Tinted Mason Jars in Rainbow. Fill them with flowers, or illuminate an outdoor party filling them with battery operated tea lights or a strand of twinkle lights. I promise it’s easier than you think.

I immediately did a double take after spotting this shirt with baubles stitched down the “placket,” which I just recently learned is the term used to describe the middle section of a button down shirt. Honestly? Placket?! In any case, it’s an easy DIY and the most brilliant way to add a bit of texture and pizazz to any shirt! You’ll need:a button down shirta mix of metal, plastic or glass beadsa needle fine enough to fit through the beadsthread Keep the shirt buttoned. Thread the needle with about a yard of thread and tie the ends into a double knot. Push the needle through the backside of the middle of the placket.

Slide a bead onto the needle and bring the needle back through the fabric on the other side of the bead. After adding 5-6 beads, secure the stitch by tying off the thread with a double knot. Continue adding beads in small groups along the placket. Stop 3/4 of the way down. Finished!! We want to go everywhere, see everything, do anything and meet everyone. But sometimes it isn’t always in our best budget senses. Back to the matter at hand. We made one from Nicaragua and it is definitely my favorite because it is so colorful and has so many fun and different items, unlike the others whose content are all pretty similar. The Nicaragua Time Capsule has crayons that the kids used to color at VBS, a tile we skipped with the kids in the lake, a pebble from the lake/beach, the Jicaro Project label which lets me know who made my sweet candle, a bracelet I made with my favorite child, Angel, a Cordova, a feather from the Ginnys that lived at camp with us, a beautiful flower that I pressed, a Nica state flag patch (were trying to collect them and eventually do a project with them).

This one is from our first vacation we spent with his family. I love this one so much! Simple, meaningful and fun. Diy Magnetic Pin Plate. This is one of my most favorite projects ever, a magnetic pin plate. They are so simple and fun to make. Because they have so many uses, they have become my go-to gift for just about any occasion. I made a plate for my son’s teacher last year to hold paper clips and such, one for a friend to hold bobby pins in the bathroom, and of course it makes the best gift for anyone that sews as a pin plate. Are you ready for the easiest diy ever? Catch me after the jump! Supplies: 4 little disc magnets, or one big one – don’t try to use the self adhesive ones, they are not strong enoughE-6000 gluepretty little dish Instructions: First, make sure the bottom of the plate is clean.

Firmly place the magnets over the glue. Then throw some pins, paperclips, or whatever else on the plate. They make the perfect addition to any gift, as most people can use them. The one who recently discovered anawhite.com and was inspired to build Zoe's play kitchen and my coffee table, prior to which I had never used a drill or a power saw, other than maybe briefly in techie in school, but I don't remember much about that. Anyway the point is, I am very very much a beginner. I make TONS of mistakes. But I like tackling big projects. And when I saw plans on Ana White for a loft bed with playhouse underneath, a dream was born. With the element of a child's imagination added, this piece of furniture could create magical childhood memories. So first I'll win your approval by showing off the finished project.
