Corkboard reminds me a lot of Wallwisher (which has been a little unreliable lately). Best of all, it is literally a one step set up process. As a matter of fact, there are few things I have struggled with more than transcription. While I love hearing the interviews again – I make connections, I feel even more connected to the experience – but for some reason(s) my mind goes numb when I think about transcription. I either type slowly or my mind wanders or I nod off or whatever, so much to the extent that I finally had to hire somebody associated with my university to help with my transcription. Either I was going to go broke and get it done or I simply was not going to finish. Thus, even with transcription behind me, I still have to re-listen to the interviews and review / correct / edit them. Enter the pomodoro. The Pomodoro Technique is a simple time management process where you do a single task for 25 minutes, without any distraction, followed by a 5 minute break.

They have advertisers, marketers, and educators flummoxed with how they operate. What makes the Zs so different from the Boomers, Xs, and Ys? Quite simply, the Internet. The internet is not technology for them. No more than the radio was technology for us. The Zs, born after 1992, only know life with the Internet. The Zs are also all about social media. Most of us educators are wrapped up in social media, as well, but we’ve managed to keep education itself in a sterile environment, safe from the outside world. Naturally, many educators want to include their students in social media too, but they are not sure how to safely orchestrate an educational integration with networks like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and so on. On Attempting an Updated Definition of "Web 2.0"

McDonald, Ph.D. “Web 2.0” is one of those terms that just won’t die. Even as some have tried to invent and sell newer-sounding terms like “web 3.0,” there are still many for whom the underlying concepts of “web 2.0” and social media are new, unfamiliar, or ready to be revisited after an initial or limited exposure. I recently had an opportunity to provide an updated definition of “web 2.0” for a project I’m consulting on. The project, managed by the National Academy of Engineering (NAE), is called Changing the Conversation: From Research to Action. Develop, with significant engineering community input, an online “toolkit” containing messaging-related resources, community-building applications, and other resources to support the project goal; Facilitate dialog between organizations that have developed implementation strategies for the new engineering messages and influential stakeholders in the engineering community that have not yet implemented the messages.

I am a journalist by profession, a politician by accident and a historian in my dreams. I am, therefore, in all too many ways, poorly equipped to address an audience of the nation’s most distinguished mathematicians and scientists. Teaching about Montserrat-Mozilla Firefox. Montserrat eruption role-play (Part one) A guaranteed excellent lesson which can't fail, so ideal for Ofsted! Photograph used with kind permission of MVO I have come across several versions of the underlying concept behind this lesson, firstly at an INSET for Camden teachers in 1999 and subsequently in the Earthworks 3 text book by John Widdowson (published by John Murray, 2000).

Earthworks, and the accompanying teacher's resources, has been a personal source of inspiration to me for many years, and this lesson is very much based on John Widdowson's work. In collaboration with another colleague, I have developed some further activities and resources to enhance the role-playing element. One of the Science teachers came into the staff room very excited yesterday. She had been working with her senior science class with the normal light microscope looking at red and white blood cells at 400X. They were discussing how they could document their experiment. One of her students just grabbed his iPhone, placed it on the eyepiece of the microscope and took a photograph.
