How Seinfeld's Productivity Secret Fixed My Procrastination Problem. The Benjamin Franklin Effect. The Misconception: You do nice things for the people you like and bad things to the people you hate.

The Benjamin Franklin Effect

The Truth: You grow to like people for whom you do nice things and hate people you harm. Benjamin Franklin knew how to deal with haters. Born in 1706 as the eighth of 17 children to a Massachusetts soap and candlestick maker, the chances Benjamin would go on to become a gentleman, scholar, scientist, statesman, musician, author, publisher and all-around general bad-ass were astronomically low, yet he did just that and more because he was a master of the game of personal politics. Like many people full of drive and intelligence born into a low station, Franklin developed strong people skills and social powers.

All else denied, the analytical mind will pick apart behavior, and Franklin became adroit at human relations. Franklin’s prospects were dim. At 17, Franklin left Boston and started his own printing business In Philadelphia. What exactly happened here? Summary of 99% of the people you will meet in College. Mistakes Introverts Make. This blog has focused mostly on staking out turf in our culture for introverts , but now it's time to consider some things related to our introversion that might be interfering with our relationships and accomplishments. Many or most of us have probably made some of these mistakes at one time or another. I certainly have. Sure, some people need more social interaction than others, but we all need some. “Small talk” has been a bane of my existence all my life.

The Mysterious Power of Small Talk - DYSKE.COM

I could never figure out why small talk has such a critical role in socializing with others. Why is it that trying to talk about particle physics at a party is looked down on? In fact, why are parties necessary in the first place? Why can’t we just meet with one another, sit down in a quiet place and exchange our knowledge and insights? As silly as it may sound, this question has baffled me all my life. The British anthropologist and evolutionary psychologist, Robin Ian MacDonald Dunbar, has a possible answer: What we call “small talk” or even “gossip” is what our language was originally intended for. When we humans work as a team, the combined effect can be greater than the sum of its parts. This is an incredible theory. Assuming that Dunbar’s theory is correct, we can now answer my lifelong questions mentioned above. 55 Tips to Instantly Make Your Brain Stronger and Faster ~ cpnShare. 8 Things Everybody Ought to Know About Concentrating.

Dr. What Is The Hardest Language To Learn? One question that’s been asked several times is, “What is the hardest language to learn?”

What Is The Hardest Language To Learn?

After some extensive research, we’ve discovered that the answer can be quite complicated. It’s complicated because the answer is largely subjective (opinion) and it also depends on what your native language is. The answer for one individual may be different for another. Your Native Language While no language is simple to learn, those that are more closely related to your native language are going to be easier to learn than those that are not. Learning a completely different and exotic writing system can also be a big challenge, though that does not necessarily make a language more difficult. The Most Difficult Language According to the NVTC and the Foreign Service Institute, Japanese is, on average, arguably the hardest language for an English speaker to learn.
