The rainy day finally arrived when I stumbled across a new project. This time it is entirely different (I always say this). However, it's true. This Raspberry Pi project Pi Hole is the gatekeeper to our home network. Traditional Ad Blockers are usually Browser Plugins or software utilities on every computer on your network. How does the Pi Hole work though? Installing Pi Hole Installing Pi Hole should increase performance and security simultaneously for our home network. Contemplating about a second PhD in statistics/machine learning - Academia Stack Exchange. This site has had such questions come up before.
Usually (as in this case), I think the correct answer is that doing a second PhD is not necessary, and not a good use of your time. In my opinion, shared by many (most?) , multiple PhDs are very rarely a good idea. As people have remarked elsewhere, a big part of a PhD is learning how to do research (hopefully) under supervision and guidance.
The supervision and guidance do not necessarily happen in practice, anyway. My personal opinion are that PhDs are not a necessary qualification in any case. If you know enough statistics to write research papers, you just go ahead and write papers. I think your general aims and perspective are sensible. In my field, I see massive datasets but very minimal statistical expertise, particularly on the big data side. Yes, this sounds accurate. A couple of suggestions wrt things you could usefully focus on: English language skills. Neither of these skill sets would be usefully served by getting a second PhD. The Art of Mastering Concurrent Degrees – Duke Environment Magazine. By PARKER BROWN Photography by AMY CHAPMAN BRAUN Environmental issues today can be complex, crossing many legal, political, economic and health fields, and requiring a multidisciplinary approach to finding solutions.
To prepare themselves for these challenges and to get the most out of their education, some Nicholas School students take advantage of concurrent degree programs. More than 50 current Nicholas students are pursuing concurrent degrees, which allow them to complement their Master of Environmental Management (MEM) or Master of Forestry (MF) degrees with a second advanced degree program at Duke or another university. Students typically can complete the two degrees in less time and expense than completing each program separately.
DiLuzio has advice for anyone contemplating a concurrent degree. “Even if you think one of the degrees may not be related to your career, do it anyway,” he said. The Human Microbiome.
