Chocolate Wasted Cake. Ever since my brother started using the phrase "I wanna get chocolate wasted" from the movie Grown Ups I've been wanting to make this cake for his birthday. Being a chocoholic myself, I had no trouble coming up with ways to fill this cake with layer upon layer of chocolatey goodness. Just looking at this cake, I think you'll agree that it definitely deserves its name.

Then, I completely covered the sides of the cake with Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips. Next, I topped the cake with an assortment of chocolate candies. Last, I drizzled some melted chocolate all over the cake. I hope this cake inspires you to create your own chocolate wasted cake. I'm the kind of person who cannot go through even one day without consuming at least two servings of chocolate. OK. Maybe I've survived before with just one (possibly zero if my peanut butter intake was high enough that day). The point is, I'm addicted to desserts. And in my efforts to eat more healthfully, I've been baking less and coming up with more creative ways to get my fix. Okay, Cookie Dough Lovers. I gave you those Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles a few weeks ago, and now I’m giving you Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies! The raw dough is egg-free, of course. Cookie dough is definitely my nemesis. I love the stuff. I first saw these in a bakery in Maine a few years back. I’d say I had some major success with this recipe. These are easiest to eat when placed in little cupcake wrappers. Detox Smoothie « Drinks. Yep, that’s a healthy green smoothie? I realize things like these are rather scarce over here, at this little place of mine. But before you start wondering whether I’ve overcome a head injury recently, let me explain what’s going on… I made this smoothie yesterday. That allowed me to tick off my first New Year’s resolution – to bring a little more health into my life. Then I did three (3) sit-ups.
I was feeling amazing. A new person was born. Today I made a batch of cookies and had two glasses of wine. So everything is back to normal. The new person has grown up rather quickly, it seems. Still I wonder what made me feel better, the alkalizing smoothie or the lovely wine. Need to think it all through. Here’s what you need to prepare this healthy beverage. 1. 2. Minus the seeds. 3. They have rather mild flavor so they won’t affect the final taste of your drink substantially. 4. 5. Fresh ginger is beyond healthy but very flavorful. A little goes a long way. We need just about 1/4 teaspoon. 6. 7.
Little Chef and I: Oreo Cookie Cupcakes. I did tell you guys that I got Martha Stewart's cupcakes book, right? Now I'm making cupcakes and more cupcakes. In our family when it comes to dessert we used the democratic voting system. Who says the politics are not good? Three kids many choices for dessert so we vote. When they looked thru the book the two older ones Brandon and Cass agreed at once for the oreo cupcakes, Alex wanted the marshmallow ones. Being outvoted he dropped the democratic system and started crying that he lost. Lucky for him his older brothers love him a lot, and let him win ( they do most of the time). Here are the official winers of the democratic election (dessert edition). Ingredients 21 oreo cookies, 15 left whole and 6 coarsely chopped 1/2 cup of sugar 2 large eggs room temperature lightly beaten 1/2 cup sour cream 1 pound cream cheese ( I used 2 packages of light philadelphia cheese) 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract. pinch salt Preheat the oven to 275˚F.

With five ingredients, they take only a few minutes to put together. In fact, these were probably the least time-intensive food at my Cheesecake Extravaganza. Yet, I had more than a few people come up and proclaim their love for the finger food. You don't have to throw a cheesecake party to serve these....I imagine they'd be welcomed just about anytime! Another great party food, these can be made ahead of time. I did all the steps, even the sprinkling of graham cracker crumbs, twenty-four hours ahead of time and they suffered no ill consequences. Just be sure to wrap them well (I covered my plate with plastic wrap).
Next time, I'll make more... this was the first food to go at the Cheesecake Extravaganza, and with good reason! Directions: 1. Chunky Chocolate Cheerios. This is one of the most delicious if not the greatest chocolate dessert of all time. Really. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer knocked on Santa’s front door. Santa: “Who’s there?” Rudolph: “It’s me, Rudolph.” Santa: “What do you want, Rudolph?” Freezing in the cold Rudolph replies: “Ch-ch-ch…” Santa: “You want WHAT?”
Rudolph: “Chunky Chocolate Cheerios!” And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why I don’t normally tell any jokes because they tend to be terribly lame! It all started rather innocently on a day that I had this whacky idea to add some Cheerios to the White & Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chunks recipe of mine. I posted the recipe along with this by now familiar photo and that was that. Not quite. Always a bit stumped when it comes to gifts I wondered whether gifting these delightful nibbles would work. People went bonkers for it! Chunky Chocolate Cheerios sold out week after week when I ran a stall at the local farm shop. Adds crunch. If you can find another cereal that can do that, go ahead! Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Truffles. Oh. My. God. If you could take perfection, roll it in a ball, and dip it chocolate, this would be it. I’m not joking here folks. I’d strongly advise you to put down the mouse and get your butt to the kitchen, stat.
Even Taylor firmly declared these the best thing I’ve ever baked. Even though there was technically no baking involved, I’m still taking that as a hint that I did good. My apologies to the New Years’ resolution folk. The cookie dough itself is egg-free, and potentially dairy free AND vegan if you get picky about what you coat them with. Take it or leave it (but I strongly suggest you take it.
