Here’s what this past week looked like- My Everyday Life Week 6 This week my Jessica flew down from Oregon to help me put my much-neglected office space back together. I needed help finding balance in my life and she was willing to do the work. Good things happen when you ask for help! I now have a space I love to work in. We worked super hard this week getting rid of ANYTHING that does not serve a purpose and finding a good home for things we need to keep after sorting through it all.
It was a long process and exhausting but we made it through the end and I am so THANKFUL for friendship and organization! The best part is that I don’t feel paralyzed in my workspace anymore. I’ll share more about it soon! Taking a pause in the nursery while we had 5 minutes to pick out a plant of my dreams. In between buildings detour turned into a Hello, I love you giant plant situation. I’d like to work in a place like this. Detour to make eye contact with nature. We ate some fun things ! We went before the crowd came and it was awesome! In between! Setting intentions for work. I put camellias on dashboard this week and it made me happy. Cooper noticed. My mom’s name was Beverly. True. My goal next week. My Mom’s orange purse greets me when I walk in. Detour. The flowers that ended up in my car. The moon blasting through the sky light in my bathroom. Sun/son. I got lost in a bamboo forest with my friend Jerry! We had our own 20 year high school reunion. Jerry was visiting from New York! Adventuring in Mill Valley. The trees are very good for the soul. Trip to the Cactus Jungle. These colors make me happy. I really want a buddha in my garden. The fog this week has been beautiful. I found a time machine. Shooting a shrimp noodle dish for One Potato. Self-care is hanging out with friends + painting. I actually did some cooking this week. Nothing for the blog. I can’t wait to settle into my routine when Cooper goes back to school. I brought them down and we added them to the table. She is still helping us create good memories!

Cats are terrible gift wrappers. I got most of my holiday cards sent out this year. We ordered ours from Minted as per usual! In a daze while Christmas shopping… Feeling sometimes like I am possessed by my mom. Benjamin boys putting together a lego Porsche. Spacing out in a rose. Dream garden. Here’s what this past week looked like- My Everyday Life Week 50 This week I took a pause on helping my Dad clean out/organize the house and I tried to focus a little more on getting my life back together. My house is a mess! This week I took a break and drove around Marin County and dropped off some of my mom’s unused crossword puzzle books at some mini free libraries. I plan on doing this with some of her other books. I know she would have thought that was neat. Trip into the city for an office party. This place feels like another world. I’ve forgotten what city life is like. One of the weird thoughts you can have when you are grieving is… It’s really a weird feeling to have.
We were able to have cousin time!!! He loves his cousins Henry & Eleanor who live in Idaho. I love Casey’s smile the most. We had a lot of fun at Benihana. Getting lost in Japan Town. Aunt Tracy ended up buying everyone cat ears later on… Gifts that keep on giving. So many things to look at while going through closets. Snugs. My Everyday Life. Here’s what this past week looked like- My Everyday Life – Week 49 This week all of my energy went into working on my mom’s obituary and the service for her.
I wore pantyhose at her service and everyone gave me a hard time. I really should have worn my trusty overalls. When you’re in an elevator in the city that has a chaise lounge in it, you gotta pose. He’s also wearing my socks. Self-timer family shot! We tried to get a jumping shot. I have been through so many tunnels in the last few weeks. Traffic on Stockton. A church with a sense of humor. This week Joy came to visit to be there for me & my family. I am so grateful for that. So inspiring!!!! My dining room table is making me happy right now. Being around a lot of people at the funeral and dealing with a lot of different emotions at once was very hard for my introvert brain.
I’ve been in self-care mode this weekend. I got to go on a few introvert/maj adventures! It was so good to laugh again. We checked out Aftelier in Berkeley. Life goes on. My Everyday Life. Here’s what this past week looked like- My Everyday Life week 48 My mom had her salad dressing in the fridge. I made a salad with it. We all ate it. It made me happy/sad. My dad was craving sfogliatelle, so we got one in North Beach Eating our feelings. Finding some of my mom’s recipes while cleaning out her pantry. This week, I spent several days cleaning out things from my parent’s house. I started with the pantry so my Dad would have a clean slate.
It made him so happy. Magic stands are better than lemonade stands. Ramen on a Saturday afternoon with a major TO DO list. I really wanted to take this thing home. In the right light, everything is beautiful. When I was cleaning out one of my mom’s kitchen drawers I found this box. This was what I found inside.
Sending out some prints! We went through my mom’s old records and hung them up in our garage. They were the ones that were too damaged to play. This Moody Blues cover caught my eye and the Barbara Streisand picture looked like my Mom from behind. Week 46. Here’s what this past week looked like: My Everyday Life Week 46 Family adventure into the city for lunch at Zuni. We took Cooper. We had a blast. An older couple came over to tell us they used to take their kids there (their kids are in their 20s now and they moved into the city as empty nesters!).
It was a sweet moment. Casey took our picture. He did good! I look at floral arrangements more closely now that I paint them. Watching squirrels. Coloring club!!!!!!! Very cool card from Christina. I am so grateful for people and their kind words. Visit to Neve & Hawk this week to see the Elsie Green pop up. It’s all so pretty! Wrote down menu items that intrigued me from Zuni. Self care is awesome. Always seeing orange and blue these days. Friendsgiving with Door Dash this week. It got me excited to set my Thanksgiving table! Chef Sam Talbot picked out a menu from several different amazing SF restaurants, had it all delivered and showed us how to present the food as if it wasn’t delivered. Research. My Everyday Life. Here’s what this past week looked like- My Everyday Life: Week 47 When my dad and I came home after being at the hospital with my Mom in the ICU, I walked into my parent’s house and saw these flowers waiting there in the front entry.
They were for me. My Mom was going to be giving them to me when she came over the next day at Thanksgiving. All I could think of was how these could be the last flowers I ever received from my Mom. They are the last flowers I will ever receive from my Mom. It’s all a blur right now and time has been doing weird things to us this week. I am not sure what day it is. My brain was in Thanksgiving mode. Just when I think I haven’t cried in awhile, one of the many texts or comments from readers or friends will make me break down in tears. This is so much. The kindness, love, support, compassion, and prayers make me break down. Mostly because I can’t tell my Mom about it. She would have read every comment. She would have loved it. It made me smile.

They’re all right outside my PO Box and it makes me so happy. New gouache setup. I heart art supplies! Thinking of my Mom wall walking downtown. One of my favorite outfits currently. I tend to wear the same thing all the dang time. Coming soon! It rained off and on this week. The air smells so clean. Enchanting. Breakfast for three.
