The 'Electric Jungle' concept features six evocative films, all of which are composed of numerous elements, brought together with a bricolage technique and stamped with Maitland's signature illustrative style. We chatted with the art director to find out more. How did the brief come about? The concept of the characters going on a journey into a surreal dreamworld, in this case a colourful consumer dream, was tailored around my collage style, which is why I was approached by AR in New York. What elements did the brief include?
The brief was to introduce our model in-flight in the real world at the start of each piece, then transport them into the collage world and then back to the real world so this involved a set build and green screen shoot. Este viernes estoy en Madrid para asistir al concierto de Roger Waters en el que pone en escena su espectáculo The wall live. Nunca está de más recordar a The Wall, el disco que Pink Floyd publicaron en 1979, y la posterior película de Alan parker . Cuenta Roger Waters que durante un concierto de Pink Floyd a mediados de los setenta un fan de la primera fila le estaba incordiando y sintió el impulso de golpear al sujeto y la necesidad de aislarse del público mediante un muro. Waters estaba experimentando la extraña sensación de odiar a su público. De ahí surgió la idea del disco conceptual The Wall en el que Waters vertió muchas experiencias personales. En mi humilde opinión, el control de Waters sobre el disco es excesivo, anula al resto de sus compañeros configurando un disco demasiado largo y depresivo.
