Slums are densely populated areas of housing where people live in poverty and dirty conditions. The United Nations Population Fund estimates that by two thousand twenty, a billion and a half people will live in slums. These are among the people that a group called Architecture for Humanity wants to help. Architecture for Humanity is a nonprofit organization based in California. Our client’s brief was to design a home of two stories, with an attic, and importantly a roof terrace facing the rear and overlooking the valley. The house is expressed by coupling two forms; a tall and narrow single-room width block housing the master bedroom, study and attic-living and the wider block at the rear accommodating two children bedrooms side by side. Semi-detached houses tend to suffer from gloom in the deep central parts of the house.

He designed buildings and homes across the United States for more than 70 years. He created most of his works from 1900 through the 1950s, but his open-living spaces and imaginative designs still appear very modern today. Last week, the United States nominated 10 of his buildings for the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization – or UNESCO – World Heritage List.

The World Heritage List recognizes the most important cultural and natural sites worldwide. The 10 properties included in the United States’ proposal, titled “Key Works of Modern Architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright,” were built between 1906 and 1969.
