Kennedy remains one of the few utterly signal events from the second half of the 20th century. Other moments — some thrilling (the moon landing, the fall of the Berlin Wall), others horrifying (the killings of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, the Challenger explosion) — have secured their places in the history books and, even more indelibly, in the memories of those who witnessed them. But nothing in the latter part of “the American century” defined an era as profoundly as the rifle shots that split the warm Dallas air on November 22, 1963, and the sudden death of the 46-year-old president.

Shortly after the postings on Shalom’s sites, the tech website Gizmodo announced that Anonymous, the hacking activist group, had finally “swallowed a big fish,” having threatened days earlier to turn the Gaza conflict “into a cyberwar.” “Pretty embarrassing for a high-ranking official!” Gizmodo writer Casey Chan wrote. Despite the media’s tempest in a teacup, it is widely known that the Palestinians are not especially loved in the Arab world.
Many refer to the Palestinians as “yahud al-Arab” because of their industriousness and bargaining prowess. When it comes to diplomacy and statesmanship, however, the Palestinians are abject failures. Yasser Arafat bet on Saddam Hussein when the Iraqi tyrant defied the U.S., European, and Arab governments and invaded Kuwait. Saddam’s defeat was a major setback for the Palestinians, who were expelled from Kuwait in retaliation for Arafat’s betrayal.
The tortuous speeches delivered by Hamas political bureau chief Khaled Mashaal and Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Abdallah Shalah, two men who are disconnected from the realities of day-to-day life in the Gaza Strip, exposed serious flaws in their judgment. Both men boasted of the financial and military aid they receive from Iran in order to continue their struggle against Israel. What about Syria? Home - Freeride World Tour. Ben Solomon for The New York Times Eli Manning completed 16 of 30 passes for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns Sunday. More Photos » Recently, though, the Manning narrative took on a different tone. As the Giants sputtered through an all-too-familiar midseason skid, concerns about Manning’s production, and arm strength, sprouted like crab grass, forcing Manning and Coach Tom Coughlin to address inquiries about whether Manning was in a slump.
(Coughlin, pithily, pointed out that this was not baseball.) For his part, Manning, who is now understandably wary of talking about his overall place in the game, was not enamored with the slump questions either, but on Sunday night against , he made his own significant contributions to the never-ending discussion about him as the Giants blasted the Packers, 38-10, at MetLife Stadium. Manning was 16 of 30 passing for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns, ending a frustrating streak in which he had failed to throw a touchdown pass in three straight games. The Global Fund: Heal thyself.
