Now Koller is returning to her background in machine-learning research. Yesterday, Koller announced she’s leaving the company to join Calico, a Google-funded research and development company that focuses on slowing aging and counteracting age‑related diseases. In this newly created position, Dr. About. Daphne Koller, Ph.D. Koller came to Calico from Coursera, a leading online educational platform, where she was Founder and President, following more than 18 years on the faculty at Stanford University.
At Stanford, Koller was the Rajeev Motwani Professor of Computer Science working in the area of machine learning and probabilistic modeling, with applications to systems biology and personalized medicine. She is the author of more than 200 refereed publications in venues that range from Science to the NIPS (Neural Information Processing Systems) conference.
