How to Hack Toy EEGs | Frontier Nerds. Arturo Vidich, Sofy Yuditskaya, and I needed a way to read brains for our Mental Block project last fall. After looking at the options, we decided that hacking a toy EEG would be the cheapest / fastest way to get the data we wanted. Here’s how we did it. The Options A non-exhaustive list of the consumer-level options for building a brain-computer interface: Open EEG offers a wealth of hardware schematics, notes, and free software for building your own EEG system. It’s a great project, but the trouble is that the hardware costs add up quickly, and there isn’t a plug-and-play implementation comparable to the EEG toys. The Nerosky MindSet is a reasonable deal as well — it’s wireless, supported, and plays nicely with the company’s free developer tools.

For our purposes, though, it was still a bit spendy. Given all of this, I think the Mind Flex represents a sweet spot on the price / performance curve. The Hardware Here’s the basic layout of the Mind Flex hardware. The Hack Parts list: 1. 2. 3. 4. Industrial Shields.

Tinkerkit. 10 Ways to Destroy an Arduino : Application Note ANCP01. Use a sledgehammer, fire a bullet at it, throw it into a pool....that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re going to show you how to electrically destroy your Arduino, though many of you seem to already know how to do that through unfortunate experience. You know what we mean....that funny smell, the scorch mark on a component, or the dreaded “programmer not in sync” error message -- all signs that you’ve just learned a lesson the hard way. Why are we doing this? If you own an Arduino, it’s good to know what is and what isn’t OK to do with it. We also want you to consider buying our Ruggeduino, which will survive all of the tortures described below. Configure an I/O pin to be an output then set it high.

List of gear nomenclature. Addendum[edit] Principal dimensions The addendum is the height by which a tooth of a gear projects beyond (outside for external, or inside for internal) the standard pitch circle or pitch line; also, the radial distance between the pitch diameter and the outside diameter.[1] Addendum angle[edit] Addendum angle in a bevel gear, is the angle between elements of the face cone and pitch cone.[1] Addendum circle[edit] Internal gear diameters Root circle The addendum circle coincides with the tops of the teeth of a gear and is concentric with the standard (reference) pitch circle and radially distant from it by the amount of the addendum.

Pressure Angle[edit] Apex to back[edit] Apex to back examples Apex to back, in a bevel gear or hypoid gear, is the distance in the direction of the axis from the apex of the pitch cone to a locating surface at the back of the blank.[1] Back angle[edit] Back cone[edit] Back cone distance[edit] Backlash[edit] Base circle[edit] Involute teeth Base cylinder[edit] Base cylinder.

Abstract Arduino is a popular, open source electronics prototyping platform that is intended for artists, hobbyists, and anyone interested in creating interactive objects. It can sense the environment and affect its surroundings by controlling just about anything: light, motor, and more. This session will introduce you to Physical Computing, Arduino and how Arduino can be integrated with the Java platform. The session will include: An introduction to Physical Computing and Arduino How to develop Arduino applications A brief overview of electronics key principles How to integrate Arduino with Java Live demos to illustrate the various points This session is for anyone who wants to learn how they can, with just their Java skills, extend their applications to reach the physical world. Twine. Listen to your world. Talk to the web. Cloud Shield provides an interface for Arduino projects to talk to the Internet via Twine.

Email, tweet, text message, text-to-speech phone call,* and send HTTP notifications that web applications can receive for all sorts of physical-web magic. It comes with an Arduino library and capacitive pads to trigger Twine actions with a line of code, your fingers or anything conductive. Prototypers, artists and designers use Arduino to execute their vision — an interactive installation, a product interaction prototype, logging user activity for field research.

But networking is messy, and your time is better spent making your idea great. Twine makes it easier to give your things a voice on the Internet. Cloud Shield stacks on top of any Arduino board and connects to your Twine with the included 3' cable. With the Twine library for Arduino, it takes three lines of code to trigger any of the Internet actions that Twine supports. *SMS and voice calls with a paid Twine account, coming in March. Create your robot fish with Arduino. Today we introduce you a robot fish that is able to swim and recognize tank edges and obstacles. We’ll find out how we can easily create it with common insulating material and a few servo motor controlled by Arduino. The mechanical part For the fish body we used common polystyrene as the one used as insulating material for walls. Inexpensive, very robust and lightweight: it floats easily and is easily moldable.

Great deal. To make fish’s swimming more realistic, we need three joints between the trunk and the caudal fin. The flexibility of the fin allows you to give more realism to movement. Obviously Robofish needs a system to detect obstacles such as the tank edges. Position the sensors on the front, tilted to 45°, one on left and one on the right. Electrical connections As control we opted for an Arduino-compatible Board produced by Seeedstudio but any Arduino board will do. The firmware The two sens_SX and sens_DX named sensors are wired respectively on pins 5 and 6. Learn.parallax.com | Friendly microcontrollers, legendary resources. Taller Arduino. Hacking My Vagina : scanlime. Hacking My Vagina Posted by Micah on Saturday, November 24, 2012 · Leave a Comment This project has been an astonishing little journey. Many of my previous projects were characterized by an amazing outpouring of effort to build something highly intricate and ultimately invisible.

This is the opposite kind of project. A little bit of work and a little custom design to create something new and exciting that I can immediately use in my everyday life. In other words, I wanted to hack something I actually use: my vagina. I love feedback loops. To me, a good sex toy helps form feedback loops. I was in the market for a remote-controlled vibrator recently, and I ended up with LELO’s Lyla vibe: (Update: LELO was nice enough to send me their updated model, the Lyla 2, which also works with this remote. There are some things I really like about this toy. The optional accelerometer input on the remote was a good idea, but I feel like the execution leaves much to be desired. So, what does it look like?

It's one of our favorite tools to use and we were up for any excuse to use more of them. The cool thing about Arduino is that it lets you do so many different things that it's really about what the user can think of. And we thought of so many things to do. Thanks to the Arduino we were able to feed pets with tweets, water our plants automatically, make a guitar pedal for crazy sounds, and so much more.
