In a school the traditional model of learning is for a teacher to provide knowledge and then replicate or apply the knowledge learned in a form of a test or some other assessment. When using design thinking a teacher gives the student the tools of learning.

The teacher gives knowledge to the student. The student then has the tools to design something for the classroom, school, community and most important in life. As librarians we want to educate our patrons in thinking outside of the box. Each problem must be looked at in different ways by our patron and be built by their strengths. We must mentor our patron into knowing that failure during a project is okay. If we do not fail we do not learn. I remember my father telling me fail is an acronym for First Attempt in Learning. I was also brought up it is better to try something then to stay stagnate. Push yourself each day to try something new or thing outside of the box. You will learn more about yourself and grow.

As this package resembles certain elements of intra-/entrepreneurial activity (e.g. user-centeredness, brainstorming, synthesis, prototyping, testing solutions with users, multidisciplinary teamwork, etc.) and as it organizes them in an apparently structured manner, many organizations took notice.
