There are two extronidarily beautiful things happening in this iPhone video by Patrick Colpron . The first is a spectacular six-sail kite designed and flown by Steve Polansky , and second is a heart-achingly wonderful song called Lighthouse by Patrick Watson . What a perfect moment in time, sort of an impromptu video poem. While I truly appreciate the need for any kid to get dirty in a sandbox or let their imagination run wild in a field of mud puddles (something I was doing myself only an hour ago), I love to see how technology like a Kinect 3D camera can create new interactive environments and games. Case in point this new augmented reality sandbox designed by Oliver Kreylos out of U.C. Davis that projects a real-time colored topographic map complete with contour lines onto the surface of the sand while you manipulate it .

When we got a tiny glimpse of Peaches' home last year in a house call , we knew that we needed to see more. Her home has an undeniable sense of happiness and fun. She has a knack for making beautiful objects out of unusual materials, and those who read Peaches' blog have long known the kind of whimsy and charm her many DIY projects possess. Now we get to see how they all fit together to make a wonderfully charming home. More

Barb Blair from Knack Studios . A: Art means to me...Life is art to me. Everything around me speaks to some form of art whether it is a child's finger painting, collage work by a favorite local artist, jewelry, furniture, flowers, street signs, clothing, or food.....inspiration and color is around at all times. R: Reading books, blogs, or magazines...I don't have much time for reading unfortunately....and because I am one of those "once I pick up a book I can't put it down " people ....it can be dangerous! Everything around me could be on fire and I would not know it since I am so engrossed in my reading! However, I am trying to read through the Hunger Games series since my kids are reading them right now.pica + pixel
Paul Rand Retrospective from Jeremy Cox on Vimeo . For Paul Rand's posthumous induction into The One Club Hall of Fame, Imaginary Forces created this short film, combining original animation with a videotaped interview of Rand himself, that encapsulated his unique and timeless contribution to the design community.Life without Lights is a photography project by Boston, MA based photographer Peter DiCampo who got the idea for this project while working as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana from 2006-2008. I realized how deeply the lack of electricity affected the lives of my neighbors. It impeded their progress in the sectors of health, education, gender equality, agriculture, and virtually every aspect of development. With a goal to publish these stories and creating a wider awareness of this issue, he recently raised funding for this project on Kickstarter.com . Besides, Peter DiCampo has been given a rare opportunity to exhibit his work at the 2012 UN International Year of Sustainable Energy for All conference and at Rio+20 to address audiences of policymakers and world leaders, sharing stories from the people he photographed.
